I've read all the Harry Potter books, and also seen most of the movies. (Though I must say that I much prefer the books.) Here's my impressions of the book, please share your own opinions and feel free to disagree. Firstly, I really liked some of the plot twists, like when Ron left Harry and Hermione after wearing the Horcrux for too long. It would have been too unrealistic (if you can say so of a fantasy book...), if some of the side characters had not died. That's why I think it was good that Mad-Eye and Fred, among others, died in the book. The ending, however, was not to my liking. Of course, the series had to have a happy ending, and Voldemort had to be defeated, or everyone would be waiting for the next book. But the end could have been less straightforward. I especially disliked the final chapter, titled "Nineteen Years After". It was such a cliche, the book would have been better with the final chapter ripped out. That's just my opinion though. What are your thoughts on the book? Any parts you especially liked, or disliked?

The ending feels too much like what a fanfiction writer might do, but I have a sneaky feeling that it's actually a way to leave the series open for other writers to come in and write about the Harry Potter Universe. A spin-off series would be great, especially since there was so much left unsaid. The book was quite alright for me. Molly Weasely CURSED! OMG! XD

Exactly. The ending, though it completes the series nicely, leaves room for spin-offs with the last chapter.

I liked the book right up until the last chapter. It seemed to me like she quickly wrote something so that she would never have to write another harry potter book again. It was not her style and seemed very amature in my opinion. After writing 7 books in extreme detail she just slaps together a final chapter so that no more harry potter books can be written.
