Typing Speed

I have just begun looking for a job. I have sent out applications to the surrounding school districts. My children started school today, so now I really have to find something and will begin in earnest to do so. Many job ads state a certain typing speed they require, 40 WPM or 50 WPM. I do not know my WPM. I haven't taken a typing test since high school, although I type everyday on the computer. So, do you know your typing speed? I think in high school I was about 35 WPM.

Hello caver1, Mine is just above average. It is 43WPM. I am not that fast though... Why don't you go to http://www.typingtest.com/ and check your latest typing speed? I checked mine there *smiles* Hope you will get a job soon.

I took 3 tests and my best net WPM was 38. Not too speedy. Guess I should practice more.

Well, 64 WPM is great. I don't know about the accuracy - when I took typing, 30 yrs. ago, our mistakes were substacted from our total words to come up with our WPM.

I think mine is around 45 wpm. I haven't ever taken a formal test though, I've just done a couple of really short tests on the internet. I hope your job search goes well.

The last time I took a typing test was about two years ago for college and then it was 65+ WPM. It's hard telling what it is now because I type all day at work and then I spend lots of time on the internet at home. I type a lot for the various things that I do. I think it'd be interesting to see what my WPM is now. Maybe I'll go find an online test and see.

My typing speed is 45WPM - 50WPM. I acquire my speed by typing everyday and chatting with friends hehe. try a typing test software so that you will know your typing speed.

Have you tried finding a free download program off the internet to test your current wpm? I would imagine that this would be the best way to find out. If all else fails, I think an estimate would do, maybe 40, if you're not too sure what your highschool rate was.
