Zang Ziyi (the main charater of the movie Memoirs of a Geisha) said "I am water". And what has this got to do with my discussion here? Well, I am the Water type of personality and I can relate to the protagonist of the movie. You might be thinking at this moment, is this about the movie or is this about psychology. Well, it's both. And I'm gonna discuss how the Water personality was portrayed by Zang Ziyi in the movie. To make it easier for me to do that, let me quote one of the lines from the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu: "The best of men is like water. Water benefits all things and does not compete with them. It dwells in the lowly places that all disdain, wherein, it comes near the Tao. In his dwelling, the sage loves the lowly earth. In his heart, he loves what is profound. In his relations with others, he loves kindness. In his business affairs, he loves sincerity..." So, that probably gives you a background of what kind of person Water personalities are. But perhaps, the very characteristic of Water types was what Zang Ziyi said. uhm, I cannot recall now the exact words she said, but the thought is like this: "When I was still small, my mother used to tell me that I am water... I flow thru stones and other obstacles. but I just went past them... In the end, I remained myself. Still the water..." I'm sorry for that, I know I forgot a lot of things she said. Anyway, the thought there is that Water types are the most FLEXIBLE and RESILIENT type of persons. They can mix well with other types, they can surpass adversities, and wn challenges, but remain unbroken. This is the Water type. They know how to CAMOUFLAGE...
