would you talk to a consultant to get the perfect baby name?

It seems that some parents are consulting baby naming consultants to get the perfect baby name, for a large fee of course... how about you, how did you come up with your kids names?

I couldn't imagine paying someone to come up with a "perfect" name. There's tons of books out there if you want something with a special meaning, or something unusual. But a baby's name is something personal and should have a special meaning to the parents. We named our son after both of our grandfathers. In fact, we had his name planned out 10 years before we even started trying to get pregnant.

There is no way that we would have paid for something like that. We made lists of names that we liked. Took books out of the library with tons of baby names and looked up the meanings of the names we liked. There were a lot of names that we liked but they just didn't go with our last name (it has too many consonants). I thought it was fun picking out a name. I can't imagine paying someone to do that for us.

I certainly wouldn't pay a consultant for that. I think naming a child is a really personal and emotional thing, and I can't imagine paying some stranger to be a part of that moment with my loved ones. I already had a girl's name picked out, the same one I said I would use for years, and after my husband and I went to the ultrasound where we found out we were having a boy, we went straight to our favorite tea room and sat there drinking tea and working on boy names for a while. We basically just made lists of names that we liked or that meant something to us, and then chose one to be the first name and another to be the second name. Then we came home and looked online to see what the meanings of the names were. We wound up using the name that just felt right to both of us, and our son definitely looks like a Dustin to me. =P

actually when i was still single i used to prepare baby names for my future kids. When i got married and got pregnant i dont even have a single a idea what name should i give to my baby if i gave birth until the time is near to give birth sounds but funny but its true even the last minute. After i gave birth when im already in my bed( hospital room) the nurse on duty gave me the form to fill up for the name of my baby in an instant i automatically wrote the name of my son i followed him after the name of my husband. His name is Angelo Gabriel. His heaven sent to me...
