Do you prefer a chenille bedspread?

Today I was browsing one of the bed and bath shops online and found the most gorgeous chenille bedspreads. They were phenomenal yet old fashioned, much like the ones you would expect to find in a Victorian style home.
I don't know why I love chenille bedspreads, perhaps, because they remind me of my grandmother's home when I was growing up. There wasn't one bedroom in her home that didn't have at least one chenille bedspread. They're high maintenance, that's for sure, but oh so beautiful! And, they feel heavenly on a cold winter's day. But, the best part is that they last for years if properly cared for, so that makes them a good investment.
Do you prefer a chenille bedspread? What type of bedspread or comforter do you like to have on your bed? Would you gladly over-pay for a chenile bedspread if it came in the colors you really wanted? Do you have any antique chenille bedspreads passed down to you from your grandmother's time?

Wow! I absolutely adore chenille!
I would definitely over-pay if I could get the 'perfect' bedspread to suit my home.
Recently, I was at our weekly markets and I saw a little old lady who was selling clothes made out of old chenille bedspreads. They're just the best!
She went through her own collection, old inns and hotels etc and bought them for CHEAP and made them into the most comfortable pants/skirts ever!
Unfortunately we don't have any that have been passed down through my family..

You're right, chenille is definitely the best. I think more people should give it a try. I have never heard anything so inventive as chenille clothing. Personally, I wish I had a chenille robe. That would be so comfortable, don't you think.

I love chenille bedspreads too! They are so pretty and reminiscent of the past. Yes, they ARE high maintenence, that's why I'll only ever put on on the guest bed sometimes. For my own room I have a real pretty washable bedspread, a chenille one wouldn't wear well there because every now and again I catch the dog sleeping there (and she's already snagged my favorite chenille bedspread once) I have one that's from back in the 50's that's still pretty and in nice shape. I have a lot of antiques, so that kind of bedspread displays nicely on my victorian antique bed frame.
