Today I made a big mistake, and that mistake was trying to install a window a/c in my bedroom by myself. I having to install this thing because the a/c repair person is taking their sweet time in getting here to see why air is barely coming out of the vent in my room. Anyways I have double hung windows and although I thought I had the window secured properly the darn thing came crashing down and inevitably shattered to pieces.
The weather people are calling for rain tonight so I need an instant fix to keep the rain from getting in. Also if you have an knowledge of what is the best replacement window to get any advice would be helpful! Thank you in advance for your replies.

I would get some plastic for tonight. Be sure to get it very tight and secure on the window. At least it will keep the rain out. If you have time, you can get a sheet of pexi-glass to fix it a bit better until someone can install the real thing. i had to do that with my car after locking the keys in. That is a long story, but I did break it on accident. It would have cheaper to call a locksmith than have a broken window!
I wish I knew a good reliable window company, but I don't. I did have a friend that got new windows and had Sears to do them. She was happy with them.

Thanks for the tips. I will be looking into the plexi-glass and seeing about Sears. I'm not sure if the one here does window installation, but it never hurts to look and compare.

You are very welcome. I hope it doesn't rain in on you tonight. Maybe it will be a light rain with no wind and all will be well.
I know one girl that boarded up her windows after her hubby broke them all out. She said at least he couldn't do it again!

Sorry I don't have any advice for you, jeweled, but bad things seem to always happen to good people. Hopefully someone will set you on the pathway to window success. Good luck.

Wow!! I wouldn't know what kind of replacement windows you should get. As for a instant fix, I'd suggest some heavy plastic and tape or tacks. It won't look great but it'll keep you from having a wet room. The plastic they use in the winter for covering windows would work well.
AT PEACE WITHIN
