This is a true story

I was just sitting here, play a game on my computer when I remembered this & wanted to kind of throw it out for the parents on this group. Now, this happened a LONG time ago. My sister was in kinder & she's turning 50 this year so it really was a long time ago. At the kindergarden they gave out some of those little toys where you try & roll the tiny balls into little indents to make, say the eyes. (This was LONG before they wouldn't let such young children have such things remember.) One of the children opened up the toy & ate the little balls - she said they were candy. Of course, her mom freaked! So she called the kinder & asked what they were. Of course the teacher didn't know so she called someone she knew in the same class with an older child - that would be me - to try the little balls to see if they were really candy. Now, I know why I was elected - I am 4 yrs older than my sister, I and was (and am) very truthful. The balls were candy - and pretty tasty as I recall - tho its been 46 or so years mind you. What I didn't understand then, and still don't, is why didn't THEY try the little balls - is it because I was more expendable? What I'd really wish to do is ask them, but I don't even know if the lady is still alive or if she still remembers it if she is. I drive by the location of the kindergarden at least a few times a month so I have this little reminder every time I go by. I hope some of you that might be even older than I am might be able to help me out - tho I really don't think there's a lot of you out there a whole lot older than I am.... LOL At least, maybe you people can give me some new ideas besides the ones I can think up - I'm kind of better know as a fatalist so lets let a few optimists have a go at it.

I think they called you because they saw a sucker coming. LOL. I do not know why they called you unless they know you would try to eat the balls and see if they were candy.

If I had been an adult I wouldn't be having a problem with this (well, the candy probably had corn starch in it, but that's besides the point.) But I was 7 or 8 and not a particularly brave child. Why didn't the mom or the teacher taste them?
