Have you ever felt like you get ahead in finances just to fall behind again?

We are currently on a one income household...We did get caught up around the time we barried our babygirl but because my husband had to take more time off of work to care for me while I was recovering our last few pay cheques have been not near what he usually makes... We are going to be caught up finally at the end of the month because of how much overtime he has put in this past week and how much overtime he is supposed to be working...But isn't it funny sometimes how you can get caught up one month then something happens and you feel like you have sunk again? I guess it's like the old saying goes life is a bowl of cherries lol...

Yes life is a bowl of cherries.LOL It really pretty scary to me. My husband is the only one working and has been for the last year. We went through some rough times and had to move into something smaller but everything worked its self out. I do understand what its like to get sunk again. You just have stay strong and be positive that things will work.

I always feel like I am playing catchup. Right when I think i am in the clear, the dog gets sick and costs me $1000 (this month)or my family member is in trouble and I need to loan money (last month) or some other catastrophe. it is always something. I just make sure to put 15% away from every paycheque so that the emergencies don't floor me.

that is a great idea and when my husband and I are finally caught up and get a little more on his end of month pay cheque I'm going to start doing that putting money away for emergencies you never know what is going to come up that is for sure...

always, my hubby was off for a long period of time then took a job that paid him much less than he earned before - so we are really behind right now, but he has applied for a plethora of jobs and stuff is starting to pan out for him, so hopefully we can get our finances in order soon. (i work part time/freelance write part time as well).

Thanks for responding...I know how that feeling goes..My husband has been really supportive in me staying home with our 15 month old daughter to be there for her...And also with the recent loss of our second babygirl...We have 4 kids altogether..Our son, our daughter, my stepson, and the baby we lost at almost 8 months pregnant..But I feel guilty in away i'm not contributing financially...I have wanted to go look for part time jobs but I also think on the other end of the stick I would be paying more in child care then I could possibly make with part time...And we would be looking to my husbands cheque to pay off the child cost then we would be worse off...I'm glad things are working out for you that you will be ahead soon that is always a nice feeling we are almost there too...

I feel the same way I often feel like if i had a better savings plan I wouldn't go through times of being broke. It is difficult to think you have everything together and something happens to set you right back again. It is a messed up situation.

I totally agree even if you think you have everything covered and things are going ok that something happens very unexpected to set you way back again.
