Would you be embarrassed?

Last night my daughter was supposed to be at work at 11 p.m. She broke down about a half mile from the house...after walking back home...she asks me to drive her 5 miles to work....I agreed...as I was already dressed in my pj's for the night....I put on my heaviest fluffy green robe over my pj's and drove her to work.... This morning, when she called to pick her up, she told me that the cashier at her job recognized that I was wearing my robe and had laughed at me.... So, would you be embarrassed to drive to town in your robe if you did not plan to get out of the vehicle?

I would not be embarrassed in the slightest! If I am in my home, on my property, or in my car, I will darn tootin' wear whatever is comfortable. As for the laughter from the cashier, your daughter really does need to learn to be quicker on her toes. She should have looked at the cashier with a look of pity, and said, "boy you sure are behind the times! It's all the rage in Paris!" then rolled her eyes and walked away. :) However, I have used this tact as a threat for my own daughter. When she isn't behaving or doing her chores, I tell her that I will take her to school and walk her to class in my rattiest robe, bedroom slippers, with curlers in my hair if she doesn't shape up. She is totally mortified, and usually shapes up. The thing is: I really WOULD go to her school dressed that way, and not bat an eye while doing it, and I think she knows this! While this works for older children, the younger ones don't really consider it a threat, they would think it was just funny and not be embarrassed. ;)

When my daughter who will be 30 next month was in high school...she got in-school suspension...which means that she spent each day in a study hall type of structuring ....I did walk her to class and picked her up at the door every day...she was suspended for skipping school and I was not going to put up with it anymore....it is funny now...but was not at the time...I had not thought about wearing my robe or I probably would have...LMAO

LOL.. it is a pretty good idea, but not for the faint of heart or those who embarrass easily, I suppose. :D I just think that being creative makes the lessons they learn stick out a bit better.

I think it's no reason to laugh at you even if you wear the robe. Because it is the sleeping time. By the way, if I were your daughter, I would not bother you to drive me. I want my parents to have a good sleep and I will try to be less bothering them. I am an adult, and I will try to solve the problems by myself.

My daughter moved home with me a month and a half ago when I lost my mother to a massive heart attack....I appreciate her more than you could ever know.

No, I would not care at all about it. If they laughed - fine - maybe I made their day a little more happier =) I think people today (not you) care to much about how they look to other people, we are so concerned about beeing embarrassed that we sometimes forget what life is all about =)

nope i wouldn't. heck i've seen people go into stores in their pj's and even wearing slippers! I probably wouldn't even have worn a robe in your situation, depending how skimpy your pjs were lol. Just sounds like the cashier is immature.

First of all, who cares about the cashier's opinion? If you were feeling comfortable and you did have clothes on, I would say your daughter to tell the cashier how hard you laugh about him for the uniform he was wearing, for instance.

No, I certainly wouldn't be embarrassed, I have known people to wear a lot less whilst driving and I am pretty broad minded at the best of times! Can't see anything to laugh about quite frankly and what's it to her, none of her business. If you want to wear a robe whilst driving providing you are decent. There are far worst crimes and sins in this life and this cashier should get one (life not robe!)

I would never drive down to town with my robe or bed clothes. In fact, I'd never even step out of my apartment in them. I'd be too embarrassed to be seen by my neighbours in such attire. But I've ever driven to town a number of times in my round-collared T-shirt, shorts and slippers. That's to pick up my wife and fetch her home, where I don't have to get down from the car.

No, my sis and I leave the house like that all the time - one of us is usually sitting in the car with the baby while the other runs into a store, that kind of thing. My mom had a big fuzzy pink zip up robe thing she used to drive us to school in all the way till we started driving ourselves. I guess that is where we get it from. All of our friends knew that she wore that thing all over the house till like ten in the morning, so we never got picked on or anything, maybe that is why we are such naturally comfortable people just being natural.

i won't get embarrassed cause i didn't do wrong. it's not undecent. some people wear the weirdest thing you can ever see and they don't get embarrassed. you we're wearing a green robe also to cover your pj so it's not really that obvious. don't worry about it. it's not that serious. hehehe. some people just like to notice things that are not that important.

No, I would not be embarrassed at all. I go out in my pajamas all the time (usually if I want Taco Bell or something.) I'm sure the cashier wasn't really laughing at you like you looked stupid or anything. I wouldn't change into "regular" clothes if I was ready for bed and something came up.

No, I would'nt be embarasse if I don't plan to go out of the car. Even if I do, if it's during the night wherein there are less people on the road, I still woul'nt feel embarass. As long as I won't venture more than 5 meters away from my car. What you think?
