How do you start your day?

I think how we start our day has an effect on the way we experience it. I like to lie awake in bed for a few moments and think about the day ahead. First I bless the day and those who will be a part of my day. Then I like to think of the good things that might happen during the day. I bless my family and think of their hopes and dreams, always expecting the best. By the time I'm up and dressed, I'm humming a little tune and ready for breakfast. My life isn't perfect, but I'm happy most of the time.

Hi, well to be very honest i just dont get the time to lie back and think even for a second as i have to be up at 5.30 to send my kids of to school and there after manage the house, get dressed and leave for work myself too. With no other help around, all the works to be done my me too, so its a rush - rush early mornings. Making the milk and tiffins for the kids along with their breakfast, and then sending them off. Its only after that do i get a little time to myself. But things are different on weekends, when i love to laze in bed, talk to my husband in peace, play with my kids, and get up lazily and just be around each other. Sundays and holidays are fun time for the whole family.

I get up in the morning and go to the office (part of our house). I get up atleast 2-4 hours before the sleepy heads around here. I check my emails, and other accounts then I load laundry/dishes and do a little light housework and start working on my ceramics. Sometimes I work on my website sometimes I don't.

When I wake up, I say my prayers, then wait for a while until I get up. Then I dress, turn on the computer, go to the washroom, and then walk up and down the stairs several times. I then have a drink of water, get on the computer, and work on my novel for an hour or so. By that time, I am deliriously hungry, so I eat, go back to work on the computer, but this time it is on myLot and by this time, my husband is up.

Wow - well that sounds sounds lke a lovely, laid-back, and pleasant way to start the day. Have to admit, mine is far more prosaic......... for 5 days a week, my alarm clock jolts me out of peaceful sleep long before my body is ready to stir, and after drifting back off to sleep again, it jolts me back into life on it's repeat ring - at which time my first thought is usualy "Oh f*** - I'm going to be late for work!" I then rush around in a panic - feeding the cats, having a very quick shower, and drinking half a cup of tea while I dress - before rushing off to catch the commuter train where I invariably have to stand all the way, - strap hanging with a newspaper that I try to scan in one hand. If I'm lucky I might get a seat at sme stage of the journey, so I can eat the cake or pastry I've picked up as I left the house. Not a very ideal start to the day at all I know - but one that most full-time working, city dwellers are probably all too familiar with! As for weekends and holidays - when I finaly wake up naturally - my first thought is "I'm late for work!", my second is "Thank goodness it's Saturday/Sunday, and I don't have to go to work!", and my third is "better go downstairs and make a cup of tea!".

Me too after I wake up, I spend few minutes on my bed just before I really wake up. As i lay on my bed I silently thank God for another day and taking care of the people I love. THen next I text or call my parents and my eldest daughter. Then thats it, I kiss my partner and my youngest daughter and prepare to make breakfast. I enjoy waking up this way every morning.

everyday is the same for me. i wake up to the smell of dirty diapers. the rest of the days follows the same path. im home chasing mine and my sisters kids until about eleven at night. the dirty diapers usually come about six in the morning. its a long day cooking, cleaning and bathing kids. but i constantly thank the lord for the patience and strength he gives to deal with it. if i didnt take a minute for that i would have a minute for myself.

Hi Pose, Well starting my day - The alarm clock wakes me up at sharp 4 AM. First a small prayer which takes about 2 minutes. Then my routine starts with Preparation of breakfast for the family; pack the children to school; after which I get about an hour to myself to plan the things ahead that I need to do for the day. Mostly I end up doing about 50% of the things that I had planned for the day. I am a great planner but not that good at carrying out. Anyway no regrets since I am made up that way.

Hi Pose123! That is very nice. You really know how to savor life. As for me, when I wake up I usually rush going to the bathroom then that is where I shake myself from sleepiness and plan the day. haha...Then go to the kitchen prepare breakfast and start preparing meals for the whole day. While I am doing those things, I talk to God and thank him for everything that I have. it is usually at night that I have the solitude to really pray. Sounds like I am disorganized? Haha...I admit I am. Have a nice day and take care. Stay happy.

It really depends on the day. If I forgot to do something important well then I feel worried and rushed to get it done even though I have no time to do it. But other wise I'm relaxed and just sit and bed and think of what I need to do and how much time I have to get it done. I eat breakfast usually because it has the best food. Plus cereal is easy to make. I like to plan out what I'm going to do. Then when I walk out the door put on my ipod and just go.
