KILLED by his DESIGNATED DRIVER

This happened here a week ago. The irony of it is almost sickening...
A 24 year old (that I vaguely remember from school) had been at the bar drinking. The night got away from him and before he realized it he was drunk, way too drunk to drive and he knew it. He did have his wits about him enough to tell the bartender to find him a ride home (we don't really have taxi service). The bartender found him a sober driver and they went on their way.
The sober driver got into an accident anyway and the 24 year old suffered serious head injuries and a broken neck. He was declared brain dead at the hospital and kept on life support until arrangements could be made for organ donation. (as far as I know the sober driver walked away without any major injuries)
How horribly ironic is that! I mean, I know that anyone can have an accident at any time but here is a case where the drinker was trying to do the right thing by not driving and he ended up dead anyway.

The designated driver was supposedly sober. Rumor has it that the 24 year old wasn't wearing his seat belt and fell out when they wrecked...I always assumed it was up to the sober people to check things like that!

i think its a perfect example of destiny ,though my heart goes out for the deceased and the loved one ,but when something is destined u can't just reverse it ,they are bound to happen,otherwise whatelse he could hv done to avoid the worst ....may his soul rest in peace.

how tragic. i suppose tehre's no telling. there are lots of sober drivers who are dangerous drivers. there was an article in the newspapers today ssaying that express bus long haul drivers who ply the malaysian roads are sometimes those with expired licences! this was discovered as a result of increased checks after a bus in the state of perak crashed into a gully ravine because the driver was sleeping. 24 people were killed as a result. all this is unnecessary and very tragic.
