Coal miners in Utah

United States
August 18, 2007 1:42am CST
I was saddened to lean that they had to cut off the rescue efforts to get the six-trapped miners out of the coalmine in Utah because of the mountain shifting. Three rescue workers where killed when there was another cave in on Thursday evening because of a mountain bump. It would be horrible to be a mineworker and not be able to go into the mine to try to save my family and co-workers. I cannot imagine how the families of the six trapped miners are feeling not knowing if their family members are alive or dead and not knowing when and if the rescue will ever resume. The coal miners and their families have been on mined since this has happed and I have been keeping them all in my prayers. http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/17/utah.mine/index.html

Yes this is so sad, I think it would be more than I could bear if it was a member of my family it almost seems to me that with all the bad things that are happening all around the world that mother Earth is taking back for we human not respecting her and taking and taking and taking...I think the rich money hungry employers in this world have a lot to answer for they probably didn't do all they could in the first place as far as saftety is concerned all in the name of money and increasing profit so for their possible skimping people die...its wrong.

I think you are right, the mine owner keeps saying it was an earth quake. I was watching a news program today which said the mountain burps where all in area's under or over the mine and on where else I think that should tell us all something.

You are right, this is very sad and tragic all around. I can not imagine going through this. If it were my family member I would have to get to them or die trying. I would not be able to sleep at night. Knowing that they could still be alive down there, holding on and hoping that someone would rescue them.

I have them on top of my prayer list. How sad this must be. I also am worried for all those people in Peru who where involved in the earthquake. That is really sad they do not know how many deaths there will be because of that.

Yes friend, some jobs are like that, like those of the army professionals, and miners etc, their life is always at risk, but for the sake of family they take up such risky jobs. What else can we do except pray for them.

The sad part of this is it looks like most of the people who work in the mine may lose their jobs. I feel for them also. To lose your co-workers and then lose your job.

Yes I heard about that, its really sad. Maybe the country will really look at mining safety after this entire event. And yes I am keeping the families and everyone involved in my prayers.
