A creative way of punishment.

I just read an article in daily newspaper about punishment given to two student for smoking in school premises. I thought they must have punished and rusticated them. But, to my amazement, a read something really inspiring story for all educationists, teacher and parents. Those two student were caught smoking in school premises and taken to Principals office. They both were very scared with the thought of being rusticated from the school as they were in 10th standard and rustication means loss of one year. So, both of them ran away from Principals' office. School authority and parents of those student searched for them and after two day they found them. Principal of that school took really great step to not to rusticate or punish them instead he gave them assignment on 'ills of smoking' and 'running away from home'. They were allowed to use school library and help from school counselor. Within two days they prepared their projects and presented in front of their class and parent. I find this news very inspiring as now a days newspapers are full of crime, killing and useless talks. So, what you think? these type of steps really make a difference? Share such instance, which you came across .

sounds very strange as till now i have heard of only some harsh way of punishing students who involve in activities like smoking. This principal has thought in a very excellent way of punishing this students. It will not only be a punishment but also will change their behaviour.

This punishment changed them. They not only realised that their parents, teachers and schools really worried about them but also they want them to get on to right track to excel in their education.

Thanks for providing that story for me. And I believe that was the smart way in handling disciplinary issue to those students. By means; pouring water to stop the burning fire. And a good lesson to all students in that school, for sure both students will not repeat the same bad practice in future as they know the next implication will be rustication . I respect the method applied by that school's Principal.

I think this is wonderful on the part of the school. I'm sure the students learned much more by doing this project and will remember it much longer than other forms of punishment. Also agree with the media thing - there is so much negative it's nice to hear some 'good news'.
