Office/School/Home: What do you use more? folders or envelops? Why?

Filing of documents are tedious yet it has to be well organize as well usually its for future reference.
I keep my filed organize at work and home. Mostly i use envelops so that nothing falls off.
Do you do the same? Or you prefer using folders?
