good thing we have no work on monday. i have the freedom to watch dvd all day and not have to worry on having sore eyes and not being able to go to work. ^__^ well, aside from sore eyes, high fever keeps me to bed, severe allergy attacks like swollen eyes and continuous sneezing... i think that's about it... coughs and colds dont tie me at home, even headaches dont tie me at home... but laziness keep me at home. LOL well, that rarely happens. ^__^ so what about you?

Well lets see I know strained vision is one thing that would keep me from going to work because well that can be dangerous especially if I have to go out and do carts I would have a hard time seeing and wouldnt want to get hit by a car lol. Another thing is if im coughing a lot because the customers wouldnt like someone bagging there food if there coughing a lot I know I wouldnt so I would stay home for that.

I work with children and if I am not 100% well I stay at home. There is no way I can cope with their demands when feeling ill. What usually happens is one person gets something and within a 2 week period most staff and kids have got it. Little 3/4 year old are not hot on washing their hands and we are constantly reminding them, also runny noses everywhere is great fun, so germs have a field day.

Usually I'll only stay home if I have severe enough fatigue with my illness that I can't get out of bed, or if I'm vomiting. Right now I've been out of work for two months with vertigo though. I couldn't do my job even if I went in to work, because I can't stand much, I can't concentrate long enough to deal with customers, and I'm not sure I'd be careful enough with the money with as fuzzy as my thoughts are because of the vertigo. (I work as a bank teller.)

i've heard about vertigo. and i've read something about it. its effect is losing one's balance right? a few of my officemates have that. they said they encounter problems when they are looking sideways and it gives a terrible headache. doesnt it have some cure or anything?

I get so many sick days where I work, and at times you just get a little burned out and need a day off to refresh yourself, so I might use a sick day for that. I think that my employer would rather have 100% from me than 50%. I also feel like you might as well use them, you've earned them because once I leave that job I lose that time.

yeah you've got a point. we cant give our 100% if we're feeling slightly off when working. but during some days in the office, there arent really need for a 100% coz we dont have much to do, and that's during my boss' absence. ^__^

I would have to say having to be in the bathroom alot would for sure keep me from going anywhere.. Headaches do the same, I get really bad ones and I am not able to see they make my eyes hurt and all I want to is shut them and sleep until it goes away.. other than that nothing else really keeps me home..

LOL sometimes i get LBM when im already in the office and i would feel lazy to go home and just tolerate and pain and try to cure it, like drinking tea, eating a banana, and taking meds. ^__^ a headache that bad? i'd be afraid if i couldnt see because of a headache. im sure there's something wrong with your eyes. you better see a doctor. ^__^

oh toothache! that's one of the sicknesses I usually have and I hate it! before I get a fever because of a toothache. I usually take pain reliever for it coz I was lazy to go to the dentist. LOL when it became so frequent I got so alarmed that I rush to the dentist one saturday morning and thank goodness I did. my tooth was in a bad condition and she had to remove it. she said if I had come earlier, she could've saved it. ^__^

Right now I'm a SAHM so I can't call in sick! I don't get sick, I get bad headaches. And I can't stay home for those because I'd be off at least one day a week. Its great I'm not working now because they've increased in frequencey and severity. What are your allergies? If I have an allergy its to scent - instant migraine from certain scents.

does SAHM means stay-at-home-mom? ^__^ just a wild guess. I have food allergies. I can't eat seafoods especially crabs, shrimp, tuna and squid. I also can't eat chickens and eggs. ^__^;; and then, I'm also allergic to dusts. I'm kindof sensitive and I hate it.

Even at times of high fever and cold, i used to attend my office, as i fear that the work in my accumulates, and i have to spend extra hours in office, to clear up the pending works,if i were to take leave, when i am unwell. So i attend office all days.

I always wanted to go to school/work irrespective of my health, unless the health condition is very very worse. Most of the time when the health is down, I will just take few pills for that and go to the school or work. Infact, when I go to the school or work, I forget that I am ill and feel better too. :)

I very rarely if ever get sick so that is not a problem for me, for instance I have never had the flu and don't get colds. I had strep throat a couple of times(in junior high and when I was in the Army) and that was it except for the usual childhood illnesses like mumps and chickenpox which I had at the same time thanks to my older sister. So a couple of injuries are the only things that have kept me out.

you're lucky for that. sometimes when I get sick many times than the normal, I feel like I'm not healthy or something's wrong with me. that's why there were months when I was taking vitamins c regularly. but I stopped coz someone told me that its bad to take vitamins without consulting the doctor. ^__^

i don't really remember for being sick that keeps me at home recently. but, when i was a child, i got this very severe chickenpox. i had to stay at home for at least a month. someone from my school forbid me to even show up in the school. a month for my full health recovery. and, well, i guess they more worried that i'll infected the whole class. it's ok anyway, i'm more than willing to stay at home and being spoiled for a month. but then i have to worked very hard to keep up with my friends in the class. i have a low blood pressure, maybe because my bad eating habbit. so, sometimes i wake up in the morning feeling very weak and limp. it's hard enough to standing still, because everything feels spinning. and sometimes my eyes just wet black, that i have to grab something to support myself. and not to mention the migrain attacks that comes years ago. thank god i rarely got it now. i can't even open my eyes when my migrain comes. feels like someone punching me in the eye and head over and over.

I would say period pain! I get those really serious one that I would want to throw up and black out in the streets. Quite a few times, I was riding the ambulance to the hospital instead of to school or work. It's really bad and I would have cold sweat all over and my face would turn pale white. So once that comes, I just have to stay home and avoid fainting in the streets.

Funny you should ask becasue I am home sick today. The whole family has been struck down with the viral crud. Sick tummy sick bottom that's what keeps me at home. Anything with a fever becasue I work at a school. I'm just so glad my son seems to be feeling better today I was getting really afraid he wasn't gonna come out of this. My youngest is the only one that is OK. He was full of energy! Hey can I have some?

When I graduated from High school 7 years ago I graduated with 7 years of perfect attendance! This doesn't mean I never was sick, this means I knew how to go to school long enough to be marked present and THEN go home! ha ha. But no, I rarely ever call out. I've been sent home from work more often than I've ever called out sick. I was in a car accident and still came in the next day. If I'm throwing up (which rarely happens) i'll stay home of course, but as I said that's rare. I also never have a temperature. So it's more determined for me whether I think I can make it through the work day. I don't like to call out at all! So it takes a whole lot.

haha.. seems lik you're a very strong person. or shall I say, strong to tolerate pain and sickness? LOL... I hate being absent from work too, coz an absent means a minus to my pay. when I have sore eyes and its really red, I absent for a day and try hard to cure it. then the next day, if it got a little less redder, i'd go to work. ^__^ and I try my best not to infect others. LOL

I lose my voice a lot and I still always go to work even without a voice. Cause I'm not always sick when I lose my voice. it's just something that's always happened to me. It takes a lot for me to call out. It's also a loss in pay for me too.

I think it will be high fever or sleepy feeling added with some laziness, flu, colds, and some important matters I have to do at home. When I'm hectic because of my work, I told my boss that I'm not coming to the office. Is that making me a lazy person? I don't know. :) Hehehehe...
