chocolate and dogs

I don't believe in dogs dying if you give them chocolates. I give my dogs chocolate as a treat and i've never had one die on me because of it. My friend does the same with his own dogs and they've all lived long lives. Heck, I even give my rabbits chocolates from time to time. Has anyone really seen a dog die moments after being given chocolate? I really want to know.
