When I was young I got used to having a vegetable garden even when our lot area was not really that big.Our old house lot area was bigger than our second house and father got a very area to plant all sorts of vegetables like malunggay, okra, egglant, bitter gourd, patola, camote tops, string beans and a lot more. I enjoyed when its time for them to pick up for cooking, its good to cook fresh and ornagic vegetables coz its more healthier and theres no extra cost coz its our own product. I miss those days with father around, now that he no longer with us its just a memory that I enjoy looking back and could bring a smile to my face. I grew up eating vegetables and its what I like and would really look for coz its more healthy than eating meat and the oily ones.

Do I have veggies growing? HAHAHAHA! You read any of my discussions? Then you've seen the many photos and what not about mine. I have, corn, tomatoes, grapes, apples, strawberries, rasberries, green beans, yellow peppers, zuchinni, oninons, cucumbers and I think thats about it. I have just cukes, zuchinni and tomatoes left to pick though. Seasons almost over here in Minnesota. I love home grown as opposed to store bought. So there ya have it. Oh my grapes and apples will be ready in a mont or so to eat etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No, I live in an apartment. But when I was a teenager I dug up a big chunk of my parents' backyard to plant vegetables. I'm thinking of trying to grow some herbs like basil and parsley, things that I can grow in a small amount of space on a window sill.

I miss a child living in rural life, then we have a big yard, where the value of various kinds of vegetables, I often give them water, to watch them mature and eat their own species of vegetables feel very satisfied.

I grew up on a farm and always had fresh vegetables. I really miss that. The ones at the grocery store never taste as good to me as the ones my parents grew. I guess I'm spoiled that way. Only the organic ones taste nearly as good as the ones my parents grow. They still have a vegetable garden every year and when I visit, they always give me some. Now I live in the city and have no place to grow them, but one day I will.

Yes, thats true the vegetables that we plant taste good than the ones from the market, its because they are fresh and all natural, the ones in the market may have pesticides and fertilizers that can alter the taste of the vegetables.

Hi Zelmarq, i was having it before, before means before my marriage . now after marriage i am living in a flat and we dont have much space to grow anything. we can just live there nothing else. we are having a nice beautiful kitchen garden at my parent's place. there its a bunglow so its far more comfortable to do anything as you know that all the space is yours and there is nobody to question you. i really miss the place a lot here. with our kitchen garden we are having some fruit trees too. we are having beans, carrots, raddish, okra, eggplant, green chillies, mint, and we are having a tree of jackfruit. when the fruit comes, it comes in such large volume that we distribute it to all our neighbours also. we are having one pumpkin plant too. it is at times difficult to manage it as it is very heavy and need support. my dad looks after it. he loves gardening. i really miss all that. it was such a fun to sit there, do some gardening at times, cook ther vegetables which are grown by you, yourself. i miss all that a lot. now here my routine and life style is totally different, but i really miss my fresh home grown veggies a lot.

Its a nice past time and aside from that we will be able to benefit from eating vegetables. Thats the disadvantage of living in the city we miss a lot of things that we once enjoyed when we were in our parents' house.

I have a vegetable garden in the backyard. I always maintain to have it planted with different vegetables year round. My husband planted the surroundings with malunggay and katuray.I have climbing trellis for the patola and ampalaya. I have planted eggplant, camote, squash, stringbeans, okra, pechay and saluyot also grows on it. we also planted papaya. It's always nice to look at a fresh green vegetable garden and cooking a freshly harvested vegetable. It is good for health and helped a lot in budget. It also give some money.

We live in an apartment so it's hard for us to have our own, but one day when we move into a house a vegetable garden would be nice. My fiance had vegetable gardens all of his life, and we both agree that the best vegetables are the ones we grow ourselves.

The size of the garden does not matter as long as you have something planted and something to harvest in the end.

Me - A picture of me thinking. Taken June 2007
I did when I lived in Australia, but in Thailand I live in a townhouse, so there isn't much room. My wife does grow some herbs, and a as many shrubs and flowers as she can fit into the limited space.

Yes, I have a small garden. Tomatoes, green peppers, squash, zucchini, cucumbers and cantaloupe. I enjoy fresh vegetables from the garden so much more than store bought ones. I also would much rather eat vegetables than meat. And yes, they are healthy and seem to taste so much better freshly picked :)

Yes, I have a small vegetable garden at my home. I grow tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, cabbage, and a variety of peppers. I love using fresh ingredients in my food, and they're often expensive at the store, so I choose to grow my own.

Its good that instead of buying these expensive vegetables we have the benefit of only picking them when they are ready for harvest and that gives us good health and a lot of savings.
