To check your mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone *#06#
A 15 digits code will appear on the screen, this number is unique to your handset. write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give this code. then they will able to block your handset so even the thief change the sim card the phone will be totally useless.

you know i lost branded phones lots of times..i knew the serial number because its written on the box of the phone..but its not easy to have it disabled..lots of things to do that can just consume so much time and day..i did it once then i backed out doing it because i had to go to the provider and give them the box and file this and that..its just too much to do it..and knowing what technicians can do now..no matter how much you block it..they can always open the phone to reuse it again..they might be spending for opening it but what time you wasted is still comes to waste because they can still use it.

i had my summer internship in National Telecommunications Commission years ago and people who have lost their cellphone usually go there to report. the one in charge there usually ask for the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity= 15 digits). every cellphone has a unique IMEI code. this is used to identify your mobile phone not your cellphone number. it is found in the box of your mobile phone and also at the back of your phone where your battery is placed. go on check it if you want. so if ever you forgot the digits to dial to get the code, you can check it at the back of your phone. or if you lost your phone and didn't take note of the code just make sure you still have the box of your cellphone. find the IMEI. it's there. hope this helps.=)
