oven toaster - line tray with foil?

so which of you folks line your oven toaster tray with foil? i do, and just noticed that a change of foil was waaaaay overdue. some charred bits from various foods had turned black and stuck to the foil. when i removed the foil i realised that some of the foil was stuck to the tray. and there were some oil stains on the tray even though the foil was supposed to protect it and keep it clean! how often do you change the foil? after every use as totally responsible users would? or once in 4 months as i have done. :P this time I double lined it. hopefully it works better heh.

Any reason for it? To save water or detergent. LOL. I do not line the tray with foil unless I think the food will get burnt easily or only when I need to "preserve" the juice. However, I discard the foil and wash the tray after every use.

I don't think I've had a toster oven in over 20 years but when I did have one I didn't use foil - just cleaned the little tray on the bottom every time it got something on it...

I don't own an over toaster. But I do have and use my Oster Rotissirie a lot. I line that trya with foil as it makes the clean up all that much easier. I change mine every time I use it though. I don't like looking at gunk piled up especially if it's burnt foods. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

yeah, burnt gunk is gross, not to mention the smell it creates.

I don't use anything to line my toaster tray. I just pull it out after every use and clean it LOL

Normally I don't even put foil on my tray. I just wash it and stick it back in there, but that would save a lot of time and effort on my part. That is a fantastic idea. Wow, I can't believe I never thought to do that. Sometimes I can be very lacking in common sense it seems.

I do! I do! It makes the cleaning of the tray so much easier after cooking. I always change them after each use. You never know what bits of food or juices are stuck between the tray and the foil after cooking... and if left there, may become mouldy. And if you are not aware and you use it the next time, you will be cooking with these additional, unnecessary extras! I wouldn't want to risk that.

ahhh... never lift up the foil and check before rite? Just use until the foil turn black black then change rite? Take my word for it, it happened to me before. My sibling also has this nasty habit of not clearing the foil after each use. The most I would let a foil stay in the toaster is one day. End of the day when I know for sure I will not be using it no more, to the trash it goes. The tray is washed and dried and a new layer of foils goes over it in preparation for the next use. ;)
