most of us are grown-up now. but as the prices of apartments and living expense are going up,and we are eager to lead a better life, some of my friends still ask their parents for money. but i don't think so. what do you think?

I've never asked my parents for money since I left school (that's high school). I started working straight away and paid 'board' to my mother every month until I left home. I bought a house with my (now) wife when I was 19 and although they gave me a hundred or two in the first couple of years to help me buy washing machines and things, I've never asked for anything. We're still in out 20's but because we work hard and try not to waste too much money we generally have more money than our parents now anyway.

I was asking money from my parents when i was in school. And when i was in college. And now, i have got a job but yet to join it. It will take aroung 2 months and i have spent 2 months after my college. I am getting a strange feeling now. I feel guilty to ask them any money. Because i know what is our financial status and they have done to me their best. If i still pester them asking for pocket money to roam about with friends, that is definitely not right. So, i have stopped asking money.

I must be opposite to everyone here, i do still ask my parents for money BUT it's only ever a short term loan & they always get it back. If i am short for something i have to have then they don't mind lending it to me until i get paid - then i can give it back. I had to get my Dad to pay for my recent concert tickets - not because i couldn't afford it but because he is the only one i know who has a credit card & it was to be paid online via credit card. I can pay him back in 2 parts which was his idea & everything is fine there. My parents don't mind helping me out if i need a little help because they know they'll get it back when my next pay day comes around. Often my Mum just offers to buy certain things she knows i need for my daughter because she can & because she wants to. I haven't borrowed money from my parents in a little while but i know that they're more than happy to help if i get in a fix! Mum always tells me that's what she there for & she's happy to help :)

There is no way I will ask my mom for money. She lives on social security and has enough problems of her own. Even when we were flat broke this past winter eating ramen noodles for every meal I never let her know about it.

yes there are still now many youngsters now a days who are asking their parents for money because they not own any kind of bussiness for their own or any kind of job. because at this stage every body is paying attention to their studies so thats why this is so.

If it is absolutely necessary I ask my Mom. Of course, she asks me if she needs anything too. AT PEACE WITHIN

To me when one begins to earn income for yourself, one may not ask for money from the parents however, it depends on the situation in which you're to request money from one's parents and whether if they can meet the demand? i was ever told by one aged person, he said,"we give birth and bring you up so that you become a responsible adult and also take cake of us to decompose our teeth as we saw to the growth of your teeth. we must not make unnecessary demands from our parents if it isn't an urgent need of support and even if it is, i they'll take the initiative to come to our aid before we make those demands.

I used to ask my parents for money when I was still a student, but of course not now. I give them some money to use instead since I graduated from college. Young people nowadays are living a more luxury life and like to follow the fashion. Therefore some of them keep asking a lot of money from their parents while some others find ways to make some extra money with their own efforts and labour. It depends on the students' attitude on this money problem though. Thanks for your topic, Lisa.

Every since I start working, I've stopped asking money from my parents. Those grown-ups who still ask their parents for money are probably due to unable to pay huge sum of money like housing or getting better qualifications. The next possibility is that they are pampered that way since young.

I just asked my dad for $60 the other day. Haven't really asked for over a year now and it seems like the span of time gets longer and longer between them so I guess that's a good thing.
