do the whitening strips for teeth really work?

I am a smoker and a coffee drinker so white teeth are hard to come by. I tried the whitening toothpastes, rinses and strips and they all worked to a point but very temporary. If you don't smoke and not a big coffee drinker I'd recommend trying the Crest Whitening Rinse and then brush with Rembrandt Plus toothpaste. This works really well for me on a daily basis. When my band has a gig and I'm going to be on stage for a night I like a little extra whitening so I use a gel with the molded trays that I get on eBay. It's the same strength as the stuff a dentist gives you but costs about 1/10th the price. In a couple of hours your teeth are pearly white. I usually wear the tray while I'm putting on my make up and doing my hair. Unfortunately this stuff is really harsh. You have to keep it off your gums as much as possible and it also makes your teeth sensitive for about 24 hrs. But it's a good trade off to get my teeth that white for the night.

I have tried both the crest and the listerine whitening strips. The crest strips were a painfully messy nightmare. They are very wet and won't stay put on my teeth. The listerine strips stay put, and did whiten, but not to the degree that is shown on TV. I think to really see astounding results, one would need to go the dentist and get the stronger peroxide.

I was wondering the same thing. My teeth are pretty white but i want them whiter than I have them. I don't like my teeth because they look like baby teeth but my dentist said that they are perfect and straight but whatever. If my teeth were whiter than i'll probably feel more comfortable. When i get enough money i'm probably going to get that laser thing that leaves them really white.
