Music,Lyrics or Both....??

whenever you listen to a song be it any..old or new..what you like the most in that particular song which makes this song your favorite or one of your favorites..?is it the song lyrics,the beats or music of this song or both and why?
in my case i'll say for dance numbers i prefer beats more as compared to lyrics i mean even if the lyrics are too scanty or not very good(like if they are a bit dirty)..and in the other song genres i prefer lyrics..even if the beats are not very good but sailing along the lyrics..what do you say?

Music is magical and so is poetry so when they come together in a great song, it's an unbeatable offering.I relate more to the lyric, because I write, but I love the music as equally as I can.

Mostly philosophical lyrics,or word plays.I don't write the music, wish i could.Thanks!

music and lyrics i guess...there are songs that are so uncomfy to listen but the lyrics are well, meaningful. there are songs with bad lyrics but the music are good and soothing...but songs i usually like are those who catches my attention.. :)

you are right..it starts from the tunes and ends with lyrics for a song to become your favorite..i think..

I'd say both in most cases and in some songs it's one or the other because the beat of the music can make me want to dance and on the flip side the lyrics can make me a romantic. Other times it's an escape from the daily norm just to get away from what's on my mind.

first the song then the lyrics . coz when the song is not nice i try to see what they are saying to initiate interest. :)

I look for music and beats in the song.. I like soulful music.. Lyrics are important in such kinda music, so I don't need to mention them here... But in dance numbers, as u said, I only look for the rythm and the beats of the music being played... Lyrics don't matter there...

i prefer music and lyrics which means both. however there should be a right harmony between the lyrics and the music itself

I would love a song because of the lyrics. I mean melodies are important too but if it has stupid lyrics, I would definitely shut that down. I love the lyrics giving a taste of the message wanted to be conveyed and I think if the lyrics are beautiful, the songs can't be too bad!
