Yeah I know it's just the little things that we could do. Some of the stuff we could do doesn't even cost money to start with. Like not leaving electronics plugged in if your not using them and turning off the light when your not using it and not letting the hot water run for too long. For this year I pledged to change two lightbulbs to the flourescent lightbulbs which are better in that they last longer and use less energy. I've been trying to educate my family with this and see if it gets through their head it's like i'm trying to brainwash them. But it's worth it because we all need to give a little bit to help save the earth.

At first I was teased a lot for being an environmentalist, carrying my cloth bags with me everywhere and using them when I shop, and etc. Now it is becoming more commonplace as more and more people are waking up to the fact that Earth is in serious jeopardy. I just wish that more people would have started to change their habits earlier. We might not be in such a predicament now. I am glad that you have pledged to change two light bulbs to fluorescents. I need to buy some, myself, when I get some money.

I really like that and I agree with it. We should wake up and learn about what's happening around us instead of acting like we already know everything.

Some of the things we can do are very simple and yet so profound, things like switching to toilet paper made of 100% recycled paper, using re-usable and refillable mugs instead of disposable cups, switching light bulbs to fluorescents, and for back to school, buying notebook paper made of recycled paper and refillable pens instead of disposables. Also, eating organic food and wearing organic clothing prevents the use of pesticides that poison people and the Planet and that use a lot of oil in their production. It also prevents the transportation of all those pesticides from place to place. Using public transportation is another simple measure with a profound environmental impact.

Global warming is one of the most serious challenges facing us today. To protect the health and economic well-being of current and future generations, we must reduce our emissions of heat-trapping gases by using the technology, know-how, and practical solutions already at our disposal. Earth's climate changes in response to external forcing, including variations in its orbit around the sun (orbital forcing),volcanic eruptions, and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. The detailed causes of the recent warming remain an active field of research, but the scientific consensus[12] identifies elevated levels of greenhouse gases due to human activity as the main influence. This attribution is clearest for the most recent 50 years, for which the most detailed data are available. In contrast to the scientific consensus that recent warming is mainly attributable to elevated levels of greenhouse gases, other hypotheses have been suggested to explain the observed increase in mean global temperature. One such hypothesis proposes that warming may be the result of increased solar radiation associated with greater numbers of sunspots.
