Why are people so curious about accidents?

I was walking home tonight and saw scene of an accident.There was a kids bike under one of the cars.I don't if anyone was seriously injured or not.I just kept on walking and stayed out of the way.I always hope no one got hurt especially a kid.There's always alot people hanging around that shouldn't be.I'm sure if the police and ambulance attendants wanted you in the way,they would ask.

inially I think people may like to feel maybe they could help in some way but then I think there are those who just like to have something to talk about to their family or friends about what they have seen...
