Today - Your Expectations??

Sunrise A Promise - New Day
United States
August 21, 2007 6:09am CST
I am sitting here here with my first cup of coffee and (don't yell at me) my first cigarette. At first I was not in the greatest of moods, in fact, very apprehensive as I am waiting on the ax to fall in the final blow of my daughter's treachery then my feelings changed. I thought of something one of my friends on myLot said yesterday (thank you SKSOUTH) about trying to post one positive discussion every day. Now I thought what can I say positive then it hit me... I am healthy, my dogs are happy and healthy, we have food on the table and few bucks left in the bank, God is showing me his promise of a new day ahead with a beautiful sunrise and I just realized how lucky I am. Thank you God! I have friends in life and at myLot, the day is going to unfold and become what I make of it. I send a prayer for all those people who do not have it as good as I do. So enjoy life and be grateful as there is always someone worse off than you are. Please let me know your thoughts what is today going to bring for you? Photo: Sunrise A Promise

i had a big expectation today. first of all, i would like to start from the beginning so you'll understand. i am a college student and is now doing a thesis. it is really hard for me though we are in a group. i was the one who is designated to make the documentation which is the crusial part of the entire system. i am to do all the research (almost all).. today, we have a deadline for three chapters. i have missed some of its part so i have to remake another or addtional fro it. i have classes to attain. im feeling like im running out of time..

Take a deep breath, go back over all the documentation you have and pinpoint the most crucial parts you have missed, then research them in order of importance. Research was an important part of my career and I found as long as I had the important factors then I could dress them up and fill out the missing chapters. Good luck.

This morning, acutally now as in right this minute LOL, I am awaiting a call from the county school board where I live to find out their decision as to whether my son will be able to attend a county high school closer to us (the current one is 40+ miles from my door to theirs). I have been told that there shouldn't be any problems but you never know--so I am waiting for the phone calls from both counties :-) I have positive thoughts thats for sure and think that the change will be good---going from a population of 1000+ students to a mere 235 is going to be so much better for him I think. What else positive...lets see...I am healthy, my kids are healthy, I was able to take my daughter school shopping last night and came out with 3 pair of shoes, 10 pair of socks, 3 training bras (sob sob my baby is growing up)and a new pair of pjs for $45 (we still have more to do but hey its a start), I got child support for both of my kids today so that means more school shopping and of course groceries, I started online classes yesterday so I feel confident I can say that there are lots of positives going on today. And you are so right about something---whenever I think that I am having bad luck, I try to turn it around and say, well yes however you know that things could be worse or that there is someone else out in the world worse off than I am. So very true. Ooooo and the positives are starting---one call from one school board saying my son was approved :-)

How wonderful... the positive thinking seems to be working as I just got my dreaded call and it is not as bad as I expected. I am just jumping with joy as I have been having this black shadow hanging in the background since last February. BTW you sure got a great deal with all the things to got for $45. Great news and good luck for your son in his new school.

i really appraise you for having such positive feelings. actually it was going great till that sentence. do you really believe that it is the right way to feel better by thinking the people who are in worse situations. this is what my parents always taught me and this is what i still can not understand. anyway, it's really good for you to feel happy and strong.

To me that phrase means that I should not feel any self pity but instead pray for those who really need some compassion.

I too am enjoying my morning coffee (second cup). I have a big interview this afternoon and am extremely nervous. I have food on the table and a roof over our heads but not sure for how long with the debt we've acquired but today if this job comes through my be a new beginning. So due to your message I will look to the positive side and keep smiling. God bless you all and keep the faith. The best gift you can give someone is a smile:)

Thank you. I need all the luck and anything else right now. Went for a second interview at one job and they said they would let me know Thurs. problem is the job starts Mon and I have to kids I need to put into daycare if the I get the job. The other job I interviewed for and was assured it was mine I found yesterday was given to someone else. I am trying to put a positive on that. The reason the other job was given to someone else is because I am going to the job on Thurs which is the one I want more anyway. Thanks for your support.

Well, today begins another long day at work...since I have to share a car with my hubby, he has to drop me off early everyday before he goes to work and then of course he picks me up later after work so I am at work from 7:45 - 5:45. I know doesnt sound bad but it is a long day for me. To put a positive note though, I agree with you, the day will be what I make of it. And other than my job I do feel happy and lucky..I have a great husband, and no kids yet so no stress there. we have nice friends in our community/neighborhood, we are ok financially. I think once we get another car things for me will be better. shorter days at work :) the weather looks nice outside so on my lunch break I will go outside for a nice relaxing walk in the sunshine, will make the day go along a little faster.

Well you already answered the question for me of, what is today going to bring me. When you said this..."the day is going to unfold and become what I make of it. " All I could do was set here and nod. Yes the sky is cloudy and it's already rained outside and looks like more is on it's way, but the brown grass in the front yard is happy for that, so I will be happy for it as well. My baby is home from school this morning with a tummy ache, but she is still laughing at her cartoons, so I will laugh with her. Last Hubby is taking the day off to go to the Dentist for a toothache, but I will get some more time with him today than normal, so I am grateful. I have been looking on the brighter sides of things for the last two days now, and it's a wonderful feeling. It almost puts me in this untouchable place where trolls and jerks can’t get near me. It’s nice, and I am going to make it my mission to stay here for no other reason than for spite, LOL.

Thanks whiteheather for that reminder of how fortunate we are and don't realize it. Today will bring my older sister home from the hospital- thankfully she will be okay and she went there in time to take care of her severe bronchitis before it became serious (had she waited one more day it could have been a lot worse).

I hope your day continues to go well hun. My day started fairly well, feeling upbeat and positive. The ennui set in a little around mid-morning so I resorted to the coffee pot :-) Now, at almost 3 in the afternoon, I am back at my keyboard and feeling pretty good.

I have great expectations for today. Maybe I will get a good response about my return to work today. I really need to go back to work. I have been at home for 5 months now. I even started to give italian lessons so I could have some money. I try to not be depressed but it is getting harder each day.

I'm so glad that you turned your negative feelings into positive energy! Congratulations =D I was scared this morning, as I was awaiting some big news, but I was happy and positive about the results. I always feel fortunate for what I have and would rather be positive and happy, as that's the energy I attract in turn.

Being at Mylot and making the friends I have has given me a whole better outlook on life...or should I say 'allowed me to change my outlook on life'. I've met some great people here who struggle daily with their health and still manage to reach out and make others feel better. I've seen folk from all walks of life and listened to their ideas and opinions and I think I've grown. I no longer wallow in my own misery but like you whiteheather, I can easily find things during the day to make me appreciate my life and friends and to make me happy and feel joy. I think that's the way life is supposed to be. My daughters don't worry about me so I think that's good, I needn't feel bad not worrying about them. They are getting on with their lives I guess and don't need me and so I've decided to be ok with that as well.

Well, let's see. I too am enjoying my first cup and a smoke. I started smoking again over the weekend. I know it's an excuse and I shouldn't have started again but I am so stressed! Had to take out a $9000 loan to repair water damage to the house, it's been raining for two weeks so the contractor can't start work, I'm dealing with the insurance companies legal depratment because I had a complaint filed against our agency with the state Director of Insurance, my boss is gone for over a month so he's not around to deal with it.(The insured moved to North Carolina, I found out told her she had to obtain coverage there since we don't insure in NC, she thinks she was never covered, totally stupid but a headache none the less), my MIL is being a pain, etc..etc.. But on the positive side...hubby's been especially affectionate lately, kids are behaving, we have food on the table, I'm going to be an aunt, and the cooler weather has afforded me the chance to open up the house and not be afraid to turn the oven on so dinners have been good again. I even got raves on my lasagna last night. Things may not be going as I'd like, but with my family around I feel as though I can pull through anything.

Today I went to apply for a job. It went well so far but I still need to go back for the result of my second exam tomorrow. I'm pretty happy about it. I hope to get the job. I know God got something store for me, If I get the job then this is the one for me but if not I know He will give me something better because God is really good.

What an excellent example to follow: posting one positive discussion a day. I will follow your lead and maybe we can start a new theme. My son and I are both working, the bills are paid and we are in excellent health. I can afford to buy food and health related items for our 2 dogs. It finally quit raining this morning, leaving the temperature comfortable enough to work in the yard...which I love to do.
