Today, my kids go back to school for the new school year. My daughter, Sydney, is totally excited! She has missed her friends (sorry to say, we didn't get very many play dates this summer.) Matthew on the other hand, is scared. He's worried he'll get the "Mean" teacher this year for third grade. I wouldn't say she's mean, but rumor has it that she's not very tolerant and doesn't give much time to kids who don't "get it." Matthew is a pretty smart kid, but he can get into trouble. I pray that if he DOES have Mrs. H, that he'll be good, and stay on her good side this year. :) Megan, I think, is ready for the time off from her brother and sister. She needs the peace and quiet as much as mommy does. Megan already made a visit to the school nurse, as she fell down on our walk to the school. She just got her bandage, and she was off again, running home. I'm going to miss the rugrats, but I'll enjoy the quiet. How about you? Have your kids started yet? When will they? Are they excited?

I had 4 children at home so it was a relief to have them go off to school until it came to the last one. but by then I had to go to work so I didn't miss her being gone as much. My Grandson that I have pretty much raised started his last year of high school today. I think the thing that I miee most is the buying new school supplies. They are getting more interesting every year. I love note book and colored pencila those twist up colors look like fun too. The kids all need time off from each other. Poor teachers and their terriable reputation. They keep a tight classroom and they are considered as horrible teachers by the kids.

This will be a great year for you and your youngest to make some great memories and for her to feel that she is very important to mom. Shw gets to be selfish with mom's time.

She's taking advantage of it, too. I don't know how many games and books we've played and read today. I've lost track. She also learned that she's more likely to get a treat at the grocery store if it's just me and her. LOL!

My youngest is still at home. I have one more whole year, before she'll start pre-K. I am going to cherish every minute we have alone together. :) I'm not too worried about the 3rd grade teacher. She's very capable. The fortunate thing for MJ is, his grandma is a teacher, and anything he may "miss" in class, will get filled in either at home or by grandma. I do agree too, those new school supplies are so much fun. I always seem to buy extra, just so I can have a new box of crayons myself. HA!

My daughter starts kindergarten on September 5th. I have mixed feelings about it. She's so excited. I"m excited for her, but yet sad too. This is my first to go to school. I have a 9 month old at home too and I know she's going to miss her big sister. The good news is my daughters friend that lives next door is in her class. They both feel much better because now they have someone that they know in their class.

You will be fine, Laurla. :) I know that first day of school for mom's is the worst. When you take her, make sure you say good bye, but make it a quick one. The longer you stay, the harder it is for you to "let her go." How exciting that her best friend is going with her! That makes school all the more fun. Good luck to your little one, (and you!) Enjoy some of the quiet time with the 9 mo. old. She'll never know that big sis is gone. :)

They are cute, aren't they? I just have to brag a bit. Funny thing is... I was that cute, too...once upon a time. That's the hardest part about sending them to school... they get bigger, the years I get to send them start getting smaller. My oldest is in 3rd grade, and it just seems like yesterday I had him curled up in my arms, rocking him to sleep. :)

I hope your son doesn't get the Mean teacher either. Those are always the ones that make me wonder why they wanted to be teachers in the first place. My son, who lives with his dad, started school a week ago. My daughter, who lives with me, starts on the 28th. They've both been fairly excited to start again and see their friends. My daughter is ready for it all to be over with though as she is a senior this year. LOL And as for me? I am SO ready to have the house to myself during the day!

Maybe those gummy bears will keep him at his best behavior. If only that would work with my teenagers! LOL

Matthew has the "mean" teacher! Fortunately, two of his friends are in the other class. These two are the 2 that usually get him into trouble. He told me yesterday that he was really excited, and Mrs. H. seems to be really nice. "she gives gummy bears for correct papers!" were his words. I guess he'll be working really hard for correct papers. He LOVES gummy bears! LOL!

My children don't start until September 5th . The oldest is not looking forward to going back at all . She will be in grade 11 this year . The next one can't wait to go back to school as she loves school and doesn't have a hard time at all and misses school when summer vacation comes along . She is going into grade 10 this year . My son says he is missing his friends but not looking forward to going back to school . He has a hard time in school after having a fall a couple of years ago in school and instead of making sure he was alright they sent him home on the bus and he had a serious conscussion . Since then he has hard a hard time with his learning as he has a hard time concentrating and now suffers from anxiety . He will be going into grade seven this year . My four year is driving me insane with attneding play school again but this doesn't start til October and then it will only be the baby and I at home . I am going to be lost when they are all in school lol .

Thanks apple! The kids had a GREAT day! Matthew ended up with the teacher I was afraid he'd have, but he liked her, and enjoyed the day. They have been home for an hour now, and they STILL haven't stopped talking about their day. Megan totally enjoyed having mommy time today. I'm glad that I got Megan time, too! :)

My kids go back to school the day after Labor Day. I can't say I'm not looking forward to having some quiet time. Maybe I can get my work done during this time instead of the middle of the night when they are sleeping (like now). hehe I am a single mom to six kids, even though the oldest isn't really a kid anymore but an (almost) 19 year old working man. I will have two in high school this year and two in middle school. My youngest will be in her last year at elementary school. Since this year there are no siblings to wait for the bus with her, it will be just me and her. I look forward to this alone time with her this year. Kids really do grow up fast when you're not looking! lol

WOW! You ARE a busy mom! I hope that you enjoy the time with your youngest! I've thought for a long time that kids shouldn't be allowed to grow up. Out of diapers, yes, smart, yes, but not so dependant on mom, Heck NO! Enjoy your "time off!"

since i am still a student, i always experience first day of school. since from the start on my elementary years it is very normal that i will get nervous because a lot expectations and excitements that comes in your mind. in my high school years during my 1st and 2nd years i was so nervous but when i reached 3rd and 4th i feel like nothings gonna happen so i was not so scared at all or even nervous because i can handle things so easy but now in my college in the university. at the very start i was so nervous i mean extremely nervous because i don't know at that time on what to do because i am now facing new environment with different people and different faces with different lifestyles and personality and everything but after that oh i feel so great.

I glad that you are enjoying school. I think I was a little leary about my first days of school as well. Although, I went to a VERY small school (we only had 16 kids in my graduating class) and we were more like a family than friends. Even now, 18 years after I graduated high school, I still have a sisterly love for each of my classmates! Enjoy your time in school. It will go by all too quickly, and then, (gulp) you will find that you are a "grown-up!" :)
