I have horrid credit. What kind of idiot steals the identity of someone with horrible credit?

A thief cannot be always thought of as rational and intelligent.Sometimes they do the stupidest thing beyond one's imagination.But undoubtedly the thief in question is not a major gainer this time and maybe repenting for what he has done.
