How can I keep kids entertained on a road trip?

In some weeks, my family will drive about 1.000 kms, my 8 year little brother will come with us.
He hates to read, and he talks to much. For sure, he will be bored. So what to do?

well if he likes to talk why not try playing a few word games with him? take a look on the internet for a few word type games that you could modify into spoken games while you are in the car.
if he doesn't like reading, but does like stories you could go to your local library and get an audio book and use a walkman (tape or cd, whichever you may have) perhaps listening to a short story being read would keep him occupied for a while.
as the person above said, you could try a portable dvd player if you have one and watch a movie or two.
other than that, you could always hope he falls to sleep lol.
