What kind of spooky things do you put?Do you put a jack-o-lanteren by the door? When do you carve it,around 1 week before halloween?I find they become soggy fast.

I LOVE holidays! I decorate for every single one of them including Halloween. I have two big totes full of fun stuff to decorate with including orange string lights! People think I am crazy but I think it is just so much fun! I dont do anything spooky yet. My kids are little and I cant wait for them to get a bit older to get them involved in my holiday "sickness"!

Jack-O-Lantern - A smiley jack with one tooth
Hi peanutjar! For Hallowe'en my hubby and I go crazy decorating the place. We put up Hallowe'en decorations all over the house. We especially take extra time to do the front windows so people passing by can see. It is our tradition that we carve our pumpkins the night before Hallowe'en, that way you don't have to worry about the pumpkin starting to get all icky and start to rot! We always put our jack-o-lantern outside on the door step, and then cross our fingers that the neighbourhood kids don't take it and smash it.

Hallowe'en Trio - 3 friends going trick or treating
My hubby and I really enjoy Hallowe'en as well. We go all out decorating the house inside and out. One year we had a dummy in a lawn chair, we put a scream mask on him, and we had him close to a plug in. I hadn't had my daughter yet then so we borrowed a friends baby monitor and when the trick or treaters would walk by we'd say "Hey you, you forgot a house!" Or when kids would slowly sneak up to see if the dummy was actually a dummy or a real person, as soon as they'd reach out to touch it we'd scream BOO! That was fun!

I remember one time my grand-father dressed up as a scraecrow, straw and all.He sat outside the door in a chair with a pumpkinpot with candy. When the kids would try to sneak some extra candy he would grab them! They screamed so loud i was almost peeing my pants! My grand-mother told him to stop before he gets sucker punched by mistake!LOL:)Those were the good ol days!

Hi PurpleTeddyBear! Its fun decorating for halloween.I love the spooky scenes and putting stuff on the front lawn.Last year i had garden lights in my garden and had found some plastic pumpkin candy pots.I got an idea of cutting the bottom out and putting them over my lights. It was great, the light shown through the pumpkins. All you saw was scary pumpkin faces in my garden at night. My boyfriend found it quite funny that i thought of this.I told him "wait till next year!"He sarcastly "so theres going to be a next year!?"Ha,ha,your a funny man!The only thing he waits for on halloween is the candy.I end up buying some just for him to keep him out of the loot.lol.:)

I don't use a real pumpkin the neighbor hood kids break 'em.But yeah,we like to put plastic scary things outside the door.Cobwebs with spiders and bats in the windows with lights under for effect. Not the most original but still fun for us and the kiddies.;-)

I know what you mean, around here they start playing pranks.A couple of years ago my van got egged,i stopped it and jumped out running after the little buggers.I caught one and took him to his house and left him with his parents to handle.I think the homemade decorations are the best, instead of buying these blow up things. For me as long as the children are having fun thats all that matters.

My goodness...when you think of it, it will be Halloween soon...this year is sure going fast, isn't it? I go all out decorating for any holiday. Even though I live alone, doesn't mean I shouldn't go ahead and decorate..right? Halloween is no exception..I just love to decorate the place..I just love decorating the front door...a lot of the things I have, I made myself...I have hanging bats I made and painted and string them up over the door with invisible kind of thread so it really does look like they're flying...then I made up spider webs with spiders in them..Then I have my homemade ghosties and witches...and this is just for the front door! Then you can imagine how I have it decorated inside. As for pumpkins for jack-o-lanterns...around here I'm finding it harder and harder to get pumpkins anymore, but I have pumpkin shaped candles that I put all over the place

I LOVE handmade decorations.Their made from the heart.Dont you just love PRIMITIVES.I make some myself, but lately i havent had the time. For x-mas i make some special ones to give to friends for gifts. You just gave me an idea for making some for halloween.Have you ever thought of making some and selling them?I have thought about it,it seems on ebay theres alot that people sell.I tried to get a witch for my door, but i was outbidded 5 times and gave up.It sold for 25.00 more than i bet.As for the pumpkins, they become gross after a short time,so the handmade ones would be good for every year.Even if i lived alone,i still would decorate. Its someyhing that i love to do and enjoy doing.Thankyou for responding, pyewacket!and for our little chat!
