Would you post a discussion that go no replies - in a different way - days, weeks, months later?

I have a couple of times, but not often. What I do is see how the post itself is doing, and if I don't get too good a response, I paraphrase the post in a category that may be better suited for the subject matter. If it still doesn't fly I just trash it.

That's exactly what I meant - change the words - paraphrase..

Hi artemis, I did this a few times and trust me each time it managed 20-30 responses!! I frame each discussion with care and objectivity and when it manages no response at all, it really feels sad. Initially i had only a few friends and i did not know the intricacies of this place. now, i know that good friends' network is very important. I have some great friends here and even though i can live without mylotting i can't do without them. That was quite a digress. hope you don't mind. Have a great day.

I will send links of that discussion to my dear friends for their considered replies. I will hesistate to post that discussion again, if that discussion does not fetch any response.

Amy, If I see that my discussion is interesting, I will surely send you the link. If you have already replied, then I think there is no need to send a link to you. But recently, I sent you a link for your reply.

No, I wouldn't chance it. There is a guideline that says not to post the same discussion more than once in different categories. Doing it would just be risking deletion even if you did change it a little. A better thing to do would be to PM your friends with the link to your discussions with no responses and ask them to try and answer them for you.

I could do that - have to figure out how.

All you have to do is copy the discussion link then type it into your PMs to people

No I wouldn't post it again. I would assume no one was really interested in the topic and try to find other things to start discussions about =)

So far I've been lucky enough to get comments on all my posts, but yeah, if it was something that I was really interested in, I would probably re-word it, and maybe post it in a higher-traffic area or something. *nods* *doesn't snort, due to lack of hilarity and ridiculousness*

I think you're talking about re-posting here, correct me if I'm wrong. If that's what you're talking about, I guess that's common. But we have to make sure that we post it differently from the original and that it is not from other's post, as that would be a total violation of the guidelines. Also, you can ask and PM mylot about this matter!;)

I have posted discussions that got no replies. I continue to post discussions. I treat discussions like crapshooters. (I think I butchered my grammar there, forgive me!) * Some discussions do get no responses, some get flooded. It all depends on the interest the discussions generate, how well my keywords work, so on and so on. You are only allowed a max of ten keywords so you must choose with great care. It's really a gamble. * Then there are discussions I put up not seeking answers for their own sake or for payment's sake but because I've gotten upset. The soapbox comes out. MyLot is a good place for soapboxes LOL. There are a few soapboxes floating around here. * Then there are the hobby corners. I'm in one. I love Linux and talking about Linux vs Windows. There are bloggers. Foodies. Parents. Debaters. All these people create a great deal of what MyLot is. *

I already have experienced receiving no replies for some of my posted discussions. But I haven't tried paraphrasing them & posting them again. I don't think I'm going to do just that. If any of the other myLotters aren't interested in those topics, I don't see any point to push the discussions to them. In addition, I believe it is against the myLot guidelines.

I think I should do that now because I have started about 5 to 6 discussions and out of that only one or two got good responses. Do you think you will get better response by doing some changes to the original ones and post them again after some time? I really doubt. But would like to try.
