Denture Adhesive

Gee, is this even the right interest for this subject? I wasn't sure, but this is something that's driving me crazy and I thought maybe someone on myLot could suggest something. Anyway, this goes out to denture wearers...I know, most of us are "older" but not always. My problem is I don't have to use any adhesive for my top dentures but I have one heck of a time keeping my bottoms secure! My mom, who's 90, has the same problem and has for years, since she got them, in fact. I've tried the name brands-Fixodent and Poligrip-in all their various forms and I've tried some of the cheap store brands. This is one case where, at least in my experience, the cheap ones are worthless but the expensive stuff isn't a whole lot better. I'd do anything to go back to the time when I could eat a sandwich or a piece of pizza without having to go and "repaste" my teeth. I'd try Super-Glue if it wouldn't maybe kill me or at least make me sick...(or stick my teeth in there forever...lol) HELP!!! Annie

You should go and have them lined... like me, it sounds like your 'ridge' is gone. I thought I was doomed to suffer, but the relining is like a miracle. I've never had to use adhesives, and since they make me sick to my stomach... is a texture thing... I am so happy I learned about relining!

Thanks so much for the tip. I'll have to check into that. It's just my bottom, the top fits fine. The adhesives don't exactly make my stomach sick but I don't like using them at all. Annie

I also take an emery board to them whenever I get a sore spot... just doing a tiny bit at a time has made them SO much more comfortable!
