My baby recently had a RASH, Cradle Cap to be exact and according to the pediatrician It's perfectly normal for a baby to have rashes. What did you do when your baby had a rash?

My oldest had the worst case of cradle cap. I brushed baby oil thru her hair to get the white stuff out. I'm sure that wouldn't be recommended any more. Diaper rashes I use to prevent with vaseline then when I had more kids I just used rash cream when they got them.

When my son had cradle cap, I use to give him baths with oatmeal in it. It helped sooth his poor delicate skin and relieved the dryness. For his diaper rashes I use "Butt Paste". Works great!!!

I have to admit we've never had a case of cradle cap around here, so I can't speak from experience on the best way to treat that one. But I found that the absolute best stuff under the sun to treat diaper rashes is Butt Paste. This stuff is amazing! It was formulated by a man who used to be a pharmacist. I think the story goes that he had kids of his own and wanted to find a diaper rash treatment that worked better than anything else on the market (non-prescription) and didn't have that awful smell that other creams did. I have got to tell you this stuff is unbelievable! It works so much faster and better than any other treatment I've ever tried. Best part? The guy did some major magic and truly did come up with something that doesn't stink to high heaven! That, and it spreads much better than any of the other creams out there, so it doesn't irritate baby's tender skin any further trying to get it on the affected areas. One word of caution though. You must be *very* careful to not get this stuff on clothing or bedding because it does stain. But if you just make sure you wipe your fingers on the diaper before fastening lil'un up and wash immediately after the change, that won't be an issue either. (I *can* speak from experience on that one. I've been changing diapers for almost the past eight years and have never stained anything yet.)

When my son(2) and daughter(11months) had cradle cap i would put wash their hair and while i was washing their hair put a small amount of baby oil in their hair, brush out the dry skin with a soft baby brush then rinse their hair out, dry it with a soft towel then cover their head with a clean cap. when i was done i would wash out the brush with hot water and daily would clean their caps in warm water and baby friendly detergent. now if your baby has it on his eyebrows then put a small dab of petroleum jelly on it. also i have recently found out that as great as the lavender lotion and soap is, it can dry your baby's skin. atleast that is what happen to both of my children it made their skin so dry i had to switch to grins and giggles oatmeal bath and lotion. it helped soo much. for butt rashes as silly as it sounds my mom taught me the rememdy for the really really bad ones i put cornstarch in a old clean sock and dab it on their butts. it keeps the moisture out and it clears the rash up very quickly. like i said i know it sounds silly!
