I've been with my boyfriend for three years. We both smoked when we met eachother. We both have the desire to quit. He wants to go the cold turkey method. I had tried that and it worked for about a day or so and I smoke again. I am currently trying the method of smoking less and less each day. He thinks that I am not trying to quit and that i don't care about him and his health. I have cut down he just doesn't see it, but he says he can't quit because i won't quit. What should I do?

I doubt your both going to quit the same way. Maybe while your cutting down you can avoid smoking around him so he won't have much to complain about. It does sound like he is looking for a reason not to quit with the whole he can't quit b/c you won't quit. Good luck!! AT PEACE WITHIN

Explain to him that cold turkey didn't work for you so you are trying to smoke less each day.You are committed to quitting but you will do it your own way. And just because you are not going cold turkey doesn't mean you are not quitting. Check with your doctor. There are different products on the market that can help you quit. Maybe there is something out there that can help. Good Luck.

It really is just all in my mind because if i keep busy and am doing something active, I don't have the urge to smoke.

Relax! If you are doing what you think is best and you see results forget him and keep going on your track. Eventually he will see that you knew what you were doing! Some people can cold turkey but many people can't. You have to do it your own way, and just because he doesn't think it is the right way your making an effort! Keep up the good work! Good Luck!!!
