If you could be anyone in history, for a day, who would it be and why? I would choose Florence Nightingale. From a very young age I was intrigued by medical science and caring for others. When I was in nursing school and learned more about this great woman, I often wondered what it would have been like to have lived in her times. To go back and see when it all started and the profound changes that have occured in nursing would be an incredible learning adventure.

I never really thought about being someone else, but I think if I could, I would love to be someone like Sally Ride - a female astronaut. I was really thrilled when I read about the teacher who wnet into space, being in her 50's. When I was a kid, I dreamed of that and I was really put down for it. Girls don't do stuff like that and women can't go into space. I am glad all of those naysayers were wrong. I assume you are a nurse now..or at least in the medical field.

I've never heard the term "flapper". I love the way they dressed and the hair styles in the 20s though.

That is what they called the young women in the twenties that cut their hair, wore short dresses, and went out to night clubs and had fun.

I would be Celia Sanchez - revolutionary and one time partner of Fidel Castro. I would like to be there the day that Havana finally fell to the revolutionaries and feel the joy of the people as they learned they were free of Batista

I was just reading about czar nicholas II this morning and I think it would be interesting to be in one of her daughter's shoes, specifically anastasia. I think it would be fun to be her for a day, being so active inside the house, energetic, playing tricks to everybody even with a bad health. it would be so nice to be called grand duchess or just malenkya (little one) by czar nicholas II. ^__^

Annie Oakley, shoot straight, date another person and marry him while entertaining and living on the road. Do lots of performances. Prove you can do something a man can do, get paid, and do it better than most men.

Nice topic. I wish I could be albert einstein and give the world something from my brain. Although It will be enough if I get a brain like him. I would rather love to have in lieu of being himself.

And... ... I would love to be one William Gates III! If I were Bill Gates for a day, I would call a board meeting and tell my chaps, "Gentlemen, Microsoft has made all the profits it would ever make. Therefore, from this instance, by this signature, I declare that all software be cut off by half, all educational institutions get all our software gratis. Not only that, ladies and gentlemen, I am also giving away 95% of my money worth to the poor, especially those in the Third World. As long as any government qualifies by ensuring no-corruption and accountability, I get to clear their debts. Good day, ladies and gentlemen." And I would be in the news. IMF and World Bank would pissed off with me coz I helped poor countries settle their interest-accruing loans! But everyone would be merry!

What an interesting question! Love it! I would choose Michaelangelo - fascinating man and incredible artist. I have been to Italy and seen his works in person and they are the most magnificent works I have ever seen by a sculpture. He gave the world such beauty and grace - I think it would be a blast to have been him. sunnywaters

Hmmm, that's an interesting question. I think that if I could be 1 person in history for 1 day... I'd like to be Sir Edmund Hillary, the first time he summited Mt. Everest. Since I'm intrigued by Everest, but I doubt I would ever attempt to climb it, that would be a great experience. Ok, I might consider doing a partial climb, to one of the base camps -- but I just don't think I would attempt the summit.

I would be filipino pianist Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz. john Em as he is usually called was studying at the Manhattan School of Music when he felt excruciating pain ih his left hand, no matter how he willed his fingers to move, they would not budge, instantly alarmed, he consulted a doctor, then a second and a third one, He underwent all kinds of physical examinations, from bone x-rays to nerve tests but the doctors verdicts were all the same that his afflictions were nothing physical. so he went to a psychiatrist but the results was the same, the pain in his left hand remained, unable to perform he gave in to his father's request to go back to his roots, his father who is a religious person constantly prayed that John Em's hand be healed, so a manghihilot was called in , the massage brought on pain that put him to tears, the diagnosis later on revealed that a vein had been stuck between his bones. John Em believes that he was healed primarily because of his father's prayers, since then life has completely changed for John Em, as a thanksgiving, John Em performed in a concert at the Manila Hotel that benefited a foundation for the retarded. John Em comes from a musical family, now he has lots of awards from various competitions, I like him because he is a living testament that filipinos can excel in the world.

I would like to be the Gautama Buddha. Any of you who has spent time meditating might know what I'm talking about when I say the experience of feeling connected to all living things, even just for a moment, can be so powerful as to change a person's life. I am still trying to imagine what it would be like to be in that state every moment of every day!

I would have been Amelia Earhart. I wouldn't choose to be her on the day she disappeared, although at least I'd know where she landed. But to be able to fly, and be the first woman to do something labeled only for men, would be incredible.

ninoy - ninoy aquino -- one of the greatest Filipinos in history
I would want to be Ninoy Aquino, one of the heroes of the Philippines. He was very smart and had a lot of wisdom from reading all those books while in prison. He fought the Marcos dictatorship when no one else dared. I was still a child when he was assassinated but I could feel the entire nation mourning at that time. Our international airport in Manila is named after him.

Me i think BIG :) And if history is such a big thing, and for all the SF movie we have nowadays, why limit ourselves to the history of the past? Me i prefer to be the first person who lived (will live) forever! :) If not that, then how about the first who traveled in the past and saw how it all begun? :)

Great question! I would like to be Gautama Bhudda for a day. Any of you who've spent much time meditating can probably relate when I talk about the experience of feeling connected to all living things, just for a little while; the power of such an experience can change one's life, even if it only lasts a moment.
