Hi katkat, It's so kind of you wanting to help others. I appreciate you for that. Here is a story that will answer your query. A very depressed young lady went to a Pastor for counseling. The Pastor advised her to bake cakes, and pick some flowers and go to the "home for the aged" and give them to those without visits, with a hug, do that for two weeks and come back. The young lady did that for two weeks and never came back to the Pastor. One day, they bump each other in the church hallway. The pastor asked what happened. The young lady, with sparkling eyes and wide smile said, "Your advise worked well, I learned to LIVE FOR OTHERS, and that makes me postpone my nervous breakdown." I hope you get the point: LIVE FOR OTHERS, FOR OTHERS, AND FOR OTHERS!

That's true!!If you don't want to live you don't have to but think of the people you will leave behind. People that loves and cares for you.

Hi katkat, Unfortunately, I can't tell you there is a cure for depression. Some people who experience depression will go on to recover and never have another experience with it again. Others will have another bout or two in their lives, but generally live depression-free. Still others will continue to battle it for the rest of their lives. I'm in the latter group. I've been battling depression on and off for over half my life now. It's part of my brain chemistry - that's just how my brain works (or doesn't). While anti-depressants and cognitive behavioural therapy might not work for everyone, it's usually the best place to start because it works with the greatest amount of people. Medication can require a lot of fine tuning, and it is by no means a speedy process. But if you and your friends or family stick with it, it still is their best chance for survival.

Well I don't think there isn't a real cure. It's all up to you to decide if you want to be depressed or not...pills are just a method to push you towards that choice. I don't know what made me feel better though...it just happened :)

There is no cure for depression. You are susceptible to it at any time. YOu can minimize the criteria that causes the depression though. I am on pills and I try to limit my stress level and I take vitamin supplements to enhance my physical being and I excercise and stay busy.

I suggest your right, I tried to read books, joined a club and work to keep me busy and hopefully my depression doesn't trigger anymore.
