Childrens books that take on a whole new meaning to adults

A couple of weeks ago when my mom came up for a weekend visit she brought up a box of books that used to be mine when I was a kid for my daughter. As I was going through them I came across a book that I remember reading called "Love You Forever". As I sat there and read it to my daughter the next thing I know I'm sitting there balling my eyes out lol. Of course she wasn't paying attention and was running around playing half paying attention to the book. Reading it as a child I always thought it was a sweet book but this book took on a whole new meaning to me as a mom now. For those of you who haven't read it it's about a mom who sings a song to her son every night rocking him to sleep. The song is:
I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be.
I just thought that was the sweetest thing. So what books did you read as a child that have now taken on a new meaning as an adult?

Perhaps I sholdn't have stumbled upon this discussion just now. I just put my daughter in the car to return to college from a weekend visit. She has only been in college for 2 weeks now and I am still having a difficult time adjusting. I was still teary-eyed from saying goodbye and then read your post!!! Gee thanks! (just kidding). The little song that you related from the book are so very true. She may be 18 and off to college, but she is still my baby!!

There are a lot of really sweet books out there. I can't remember one specifically that my mom read to me that I've read to my son and felt that way about, but I do remember I used to babysit this little boy, and he always wanted me to read "Guess How Much I Love You."
We bought it for my son not too long ago, and I thought it was even sweeter than I remembered it being. Another one that I really like and my son is getting where he really likes is "I Love You Stinky Face." We read one or the other of them every night before he goes to sleep.
Thanks for reminding me about "Love You Forever," I had forgotten all about that book. I think I will look for it and buy it for my son now. :)

that is really sweet and very very beautiful. Yes I know the words we used hear from our parents were of meaning of something different than when we are reading or saying to our kids. Feeligs is totaly different for a child and a parent.
