Sell Books Back or Keep Them?

I've been presented with a reasonable dilemma when it comes to my grad school courses. When I was an undergrad, I usually sold my books back to the bookstore or to another student or even online. That wasn't a problem, I doubt I'll ever need 75% of the knowledge in those books (communications/journalism major). I kept a few history books cause I'm a history nerd... but none of the others.
Now that I am in grad school, all the books have relevance to what I am studying. It's getting to be space consuming to keep all these books. I want to scan them into PDFs and save them on an external hard drive or something to save space.
Do you keep your books or try to sell them back? Sometimes, the bookstore won't even offer 50% of the original price back, or the book becomes replaced by a new edition so it can't be bought back. What do you do with the books then?

I used to sell my books back when I was in college. I didn't really have extra space to keep them and I didn't need them cause they were all the time coming out with new ones. I usually sold them back at the end of my semester and I never had a problem with them not wanting to take them back. And no new editions had come out before I took it back to sell it.

I usually went to www.half.com because I got more for my books there than I would have if the bookstore had bought them back.
