My partner has it and he is in alot of pain, he has been sick for a week and a half and has been put on the proper medication now and told he will be off work for another week..... I've never known anybody around me to have had it, and afraid the kids and I will get it too, we have been sick to but not as bad as him..... Has anybody here had this or know much about it?

I doubt if pneumonia is a contagious disease. I think it does not spread to others, if one member is ill at home. But please check out with your family doctor for the precatuions, which you are required to take. Hope you partner would recover soon. Wish him speedy recovery.

In about 98 I got pneumonia. Being a smoker I was constantly suffering from bronchitis.....being very healthy otherwise, and strong, I tolerated this illness well and functioned normally while I had it. But this one time, something drove me to go to the doctors where I was falling down like a drunk because I was so tired. I was taken into a room to lie down till a doctor could see me. I was exhausted, I had never in my life felt so tired or weak. I took to my bed and rested/slept for a couple of days then I started to be well again but my chest was very weak from the illness as well as some horrid coughing. Shadows appear on the lung in a chest x-ray. It's an inflammation of the lung caused by a bacteria ....the lung becomes solid. I'm so sorry your husband has to go through this.

Thank you for sharing your experience... It was really strange for him to be so weak and struggle doing things it was so unlike him and it was a lovely day outside and he was inside with the heating on and ruged up, that's when I realised something wasn't right... He is on the mend now but still not 100% but good enough to get back into the swing of things....

I get it just about every winter. It does make you miserable and other than staying in bed, taking meds and resting there isn't too much a person can do about it. AT PEACE WITHIN
