Would you still buy your favorite cereal, even if you didn't have a coupon?

When I was growing up, my favorite cereal was Frosted Flakes, the good kind, not the generic. But, since there were rarely any coupons available, and money was tight in the household, we almost always got the cheap generic version of the cereal. And, it tasted really bad! That's when I developed my hatred for any and everything generic. In my mind it's not the same product! I don't care what anyone says.
Now, my favorite cereal is Raisin Bran Crunch. I'm getting older and yes, it does make a difference what I eat now. I'm not saying that it's the healthiest cereal in the world, but it's certainly the only one that counts. At least for me. Most times when I go to the store, I could care less if I have a coupon for that brand of cereal, just as long as they have it in stock. Luckily my spouse and kid feels the same way so there is never any argument over which cereal we should buy.
So, how about you? Do you only buy your favorite cereal if a coupon is available? Would you buy a cereal just because you had a coupon? Do you think your family would notice the difference?

I know exactly what you mean about generics being less than the best. But I have to tell you, at Walmart, the generic Raisin Bran truly is just as good as the original. I was shocked that it tasted as good. But I usually buy my favorite cereal, coupon or not. Unless, it is just a crazy and unreasonable price. It helps that I don't eat cereal as much as I think other people do. Right now my favorite cereal is Kashi's 7 Whole Grain Nuggets. It's filling and it tastes good. I love it when cereal actually fills me up. Other kinds leave me hungry an hour after I eat them. : )

I've noticed that with cereals too. I think it's all the sugars and the eventual let down that you get after eating it. That's my theory anyway. I get that from my cereal, but it still tastes good, so I just eat it less often. I have to be careful eating it though, or I won't end up eating anything else till 9 PM at night. I just eat it and forget about food. Strange! But, then I forget to make myself food and while everyone else is eating I don't eat and later regret it.

It's so true! And, it's been proven that breakfast eaters are usually slimmer than people that skip breakfast entirely!

I don't really eat cereal very often. Maybe once a month, so I just eat whatever we have that my husband or my son has been eating. I've been eating cereal more often lately, though, so I might actually pick one out next time.
As far as what cereal I normally buy, I usually buy my son Fruity Cheerios, but coupons are really easy to find for them. I can almost always find one specifically for Cheerios, and if not a General Mills one will work. :)
My husband tends to pick cereal that is on sale, as long as it has lots of fiber. :) He's not very picky, and switches it up a lot anyway, so it's not a big deal for him to not get a certain kind because it's more expensive.

Your son likes Fruity Cheerios? Maybe I will pick up some of that for my daughter then. A couple years ago, I had cheerios and it was super easy to eat. I think it would be much healthier for her than some of the other sugar cereals. Thanks for the tip.

I would definitely buy my favorite cereal without a coupon. I do it all the time. I just get it as cheaply as possible, usually at the several liquidation stores, the one Grocery Outlet store in town, at Wal-mart, or on sale. I am finding that my favorite cereal isn't always easy to find a coupon for. I like Kellogg's Organic Frosted Mini Wheats the best, but I have a few other organic favorites as well. Having a coupon for my favorite cereal really helps, though, but it is not a requirement for me.

I haven't tried that yet, but since it's from Kelloggs, I'd probably enjoy it. I like most of their cereals.

I am on a gluten free diet, and I can only have two or three brands of cereal and there are never coupons, so out of necessity I always buy without one, but would if I could, or I could always stop eating cereal, lol.

My family has favorite flavors and brands of cereal, but it is just so expensive we don't often get them. With three kids I usually just get whatever is on sale, and the atleast 2 of the kids will eat it. The one that doesn't like it, just makes an english muffin or something. I guess I'm lucky with my children, they aren't picky or whinny. Thank the Lord!

I'm not a huge cereal fan, sometimes it's great to eat, sometimes I want nothing to do with it. So, I guess, if there was a coupon for the cereal that I liked the most, I'd end up getting a box or so if I could because I got some money off of it. However, if I didn't have a coupon and I really wanted that cereal because I was craving it and I could stand to spare something else I wanted for that cereal I'd probably do it.

I usually use a coupon or buy cereal on sale. My favorite is Life cereal or cocoa krispies. But I won't buy them unless they are on sale or i have a coupon for them. I eat whatever is cheapest. I don't often get my favorite ceareal but when I can I will stock up.

My family is very picky about what kind of cereal they eat. Coupon or no coupon or special, we still buy Frosty Flakes for my husband, Special K for me and Cocoa Puffs for my son. Sometimes I buy Oatmeal as well. I am always looking out for specials but cereals seem to be the one thing we argue a little on LOL

I tend to buy the cheaper store brands of cereal. I think cereal prices are outrageous. I do buy name brands ones we like when they are on sale though. I dont usually have coupons.

I would buy the same cereal. I will try to find a cheaper version of the same thing & at least try it to see if I like it. Like I found a cheaper version of Crispix. But some cereals you just can't replace. And thank goodness for walmart price matching. Its saves me a ton of money!!!

I usually only buy cereal when it is on sale. I we have 10 boxes of cereal in the pantry right now. We have Rice Krispies, Cherrios(2), Grape Nuts, Rasin Brand, Corn Chex, Rice Chex, Corn Flakes, Total(3). I do not buy the sugary ones at all. I use cereal for more than breakfast though. I use the corn flakes for coating chicken and topping casseroles. The Total is for Lemon Raspberry Muffins as well as eating, and the chex are for making Chex Mix.
