Do you ever get the sense that the discussions you start......

...gives other people ideas for other topics? Two of the discussions spicifically I've started I later came across another discussion very similar to mine. One only removed the first word. So have you come across any copycats and do you then participate in THEIR discussion. How devious. :-) (Picture me rubbing my hands with devilment in mind!!!) LOL LOL LOL

I don't know if the discussions I start give people other ideas or not, but I know that other discussions give me ideas, and it is often the best way to get ideas. If people are behave like copycats, that doesn't bother me. I just think that surely, if they keep doing it, they won't get too many responses after a while. But I don't think there is such a thing as a completely new idea - somebody somewhere has thought about it :-)

I think getting ideas is fine.. but if discussions are copied word for word, then that is a bit cheeky. :-0

Absolutely, copy and pasting WITHOUT giving due credit is unpardonable. The few cents one would make is definitely not worth it!

I agree. Unfortunately unique ideas are often few and far between. Look at me, many of the discussions I start I get my ideas from, and dare I say it, "Dear Abby!!" :-)

Well, Luckily, I not yet got such kind of experienct. If I did come to this kind of case, I would feel sorry for him/her. But it's Ok, when mylot finds out about the truth, they will punish him/her,I suppose. Andy

Yes, that's happened to me on some discussions. It's a bit annoying, but that's the way it is and no sense in worrying or stewing about it. Usually I do not participate in their discussion, but have once or twice. Overall it's not a big deal to me. I just let it go and go on.

It can be annoying, but then you can think that your idea was good enough for someone to want to steal it. Yes and that was another thought I had, if you suspect that someone had copied your idea, do you then participate in their discussion?

Yes, I believe that people may look at other peoples discussions and steal the ideas to make up their own, slightly different, discussion. They see it as another way to make more money on mylot, so they just go for it.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it stealing. Don't want to make anyone mad. You know what they say about imitation? Its the best form of flattery. :-)

Hi there. Sure, some people here get ideas off maybe one word, one word can trigger alot of different thoughts for topic, I know I have been triggered with a few thoughts for my discussions, then some get ideas off the whole discussion and Ive noticed that all they've done is changed the wording around to suit... Alot of people come up with there own unique ideas too...

Isn't that wonderful, how someone can take a single word and make, maybe a book out of it? I think that's awesome. I haven't written a book yet, but I've been inspired by a single word from time to time.

Yea it happens. Sometimes I participate in all the discussions if they are worth it, but really I encounter the thread later; I think "deja vu?", dismiss it and then post.

So you do participate in both discussions? I guess that OK then.

I never thought about it. I mean out of all the people posting of course the discussions are going to overlap and but I never thought of stealing someone's discussion and posting almost the exact thing word for word. Wow.

Call me naive but I'd never thought of it either. You know how when you put tags on your messages? Well other messages come up with similar topics. I found it strange that on a number of occasions I've come across similar discussions that were started within minutes of mine. No big deal, I was just wondering.
