Imagine yourself in a restaurant sipping some hot coffee. You spot a beautiful young lady sitting at the opposite table and want to make polite conversations. What will you do? Your obvious answer could be that you would shake hands with her and introduce yourself. But then how will you hide your untidy, rugged nails? If you think that grooming and keeping oneself presentable is a woman's necessity and does not apply to men, then you are wrong. Grooming yourself and looking good has become very important these days. Special attention to all aspects of one's personal appearance boosts self-esteem and creates a winning mindset, the very qualities that go hand in hand with success in life. Personal grooming includes aspects like face and body care, hair care, skin care, sun care and much more. But the one thing that often is neglected is caring for your nails and hands. Your hands reach out to people and so are very much noticed by others. And let me tell you only well maintained hands are reached out to. So now tell me, will the beautiful young lady at the opposite table reach out to you? Perhaps no. But implementing a regular hand and nail care regime will help make the best first impression possible. Manicure The best way to have great looking hands and nails is opting for a professional manicure. Not only will your hands look great, but it feels great as well. Manicures come complete with hand massage and full nail care. Hand and nail care for is not complicated and creates a nice impression. But if you are looking for some easy tips that will help you keep your nails in good shape without having to visit the salon, then read on. The basics If you do not want to waste time on your hands, then take minimum care of your nails daily. All you have to do is keep them short, and properly clean underneath the tips. You can purchase a nailbrush for minimal cost at any nearby drug house. Simply brush the tips of your fingers to remove dirt from under the nail. Also, brush across the tops of your nails. Additional Care The skin on your hands can become dry and rough very easily. Your hands may also develop tough calluses. To remove calluses, use a pumice stone or any other tool designed for callus removal. Be careful not to remove too much skin, as this can be painful, but do try to remove as much of the buildup as possible. Follow this with a quality moisturiser. Some are specifically designed for men or for dryer skin, if this is a problem. Also once in a week, exfoliate the skin on your hands. There are products available for this purpose. You can also use a simple home remedy. Combine white sugar granules to a moisturiser and gently rub your hands together for a minute or so, then wash your hands and re-moisturise. This will remove dead skin cells that make your skin appear dull. Extra Additional Care The next step is cuticle care. For this you will have to choose a product designed to remove or soften cuticles. These are applied to the cuticle and then the skin is pushed back using a small stick designed for this purpose. It only takes a few minutes and gives a striking difference to your hands' appearance. Finally, you can also consider light buffing of your nails to give them a slight shine. This gives a polished look to your hands. Some dos and don'ts for better nail care: Don't use nail tips to untie knots or loosen shoelaces. Use the sides of your fingers to open car doors and save your nails. Use a knife to open boxes and packages, not your nails. This can weaken them. On the same note, do not use your nails as screwdrivers, apple corers or toothpicks. Use the pads of your fingers, not the nails, when picking up or handling objects or while typing. Always use rubber gloves when handling household cleaners as well as bleach. These chemicals will quickly dry out nails, leaving them brittle. Gloves also give the nails a bit of padding. Jewellery latches can be your nemesis! Do not handle latches with long nails. Last but not the least, stop biting your nails.

I don't know if I have answered this or not but you seem to be very health conscious or you have a doctor in your family. Thanks for the advice.
