Help please! My disc burner isn't registering!

I'm attempting to get my daugher high school musical 2 off my itunes into her mp3 player and I haven't been able to burn it to disk so i can put it into media player for her! Any ideas on how to get my program to recognize the burner is there? It worked last time I did it.

If you keep having problems with it,you may need to replace your disk drive.I recovered my computer 3 times before I figured out that my disk drive went bad.I had only had my computer for a year when it happened.
