I have a really hard time getting enough proteins in my diet. i do not eat meat or fish much. I eat some eggs, yoghurt, beans and lentils. I know they have some proteins. Do you have any suggestions for me - I need some protein-rich food that I can just grab and eat. not much preparations involved. ideas?

I good way is Protein bars. If you find a good brand, they're really good and a great snack. I once had one that tasted just like a Chocolate bar (Thicker and chewy but good). They also had a Strawberry Cream flavor. Anyway, its an easy quick way to get the protein you need. Especially if you're on the go. Also they have the shakes as well. I can't afford to get a lot of beef all the time. And when I had them, it did help out a lot.

Thanks for your advice! Do you know a good brand for the protein bars? One with no sugar?

There's always tofu and various soy based meat substitutes. If you're "adventurous" you could try some of the protein bars on the market.

I'm not sure where you are - I'm about to go to sleep and can't check - but here in the states we have protein pasta with I think 18 grams of protein which is great. Its uncooked. And in some stores - like Safeway - you can get packaged pasta - microwavable - which is high protein. Their are different kinds - like spaghetti and red sauce and such. Nuts of course are high in protein. My mom is a vegetarian and its important when not eating meat to get complete proteins - the right amino acid combination - like beans and rice and such. I would suggest a trip to the library for a book - or do a search on the web. I have to have a lot of protein as I'm nursing and I supplement my diet with a protein shake, you can make it with fruit for a nice smoothie! Good luck!

As far as grabbing and eating - I suggest making the uncooked pasta in advance and eating it during the week. And getting some protein bars maybe.

Oh and remember that fruits and veggies contain protein too - in small amount - like one cup of green beans or peas and carrots contains over two grams of protein. Apples too.

Dairy milk, soy milk, and nuts are good sources of protein.

They do offer a lot of protein powders that make delicious shakes. My sister loves them.
