Intuition - how many of you listen to your inner voice?

And how many heed what you hear? My intuition has never steered me wrong - never - yet I still have yet to be consistent on listening to it. I do think that we can find our wisest advice in our heart - if we pause enough to hear. If we silence all of our everyday inner thoughts. And really listen. Have you always listened? Tell me a story about a time your intuition steered you right - but you ignored it.

I try so darn hard to make the right decisions about things that I tend to over-think everything. I'd be a heck of a lot better off if I just go with my gut. Probably my biggest mistake was not going to college the first time I thought about it. I had the opportunity to go right out of high school but decided to go to work instead. My gut said it was the right thing to do and I didn't listen. It was more important for me at the time to get out into the work force and make some money. Of course we're talking back in 1977, around here college wasn't considered all that important for women. You were expected to get married and start having babies right out of high school. Most of friends did that but I wanted the independence and a career. Really stupid way to go about it! After a lot of cr*ppy jobs with little advancement potential I went back to college at age 33. Unfortunately by 41 I was so crippled up with Fibromyalgia and arthritis I couldn't/can't work a regular job anymore. I blew a lot of good years where I could have been securing my future against such things and by the time I got smart it was too late. I try a lot harder now to go with my intuition, it's usually right.

That's where I'm at. I procrastinated because I was so shy in school. I started out in Massage Therapy school which only cemented how much I want to go into counseling - a longer haul but worth it, I finished with this schooling right at conception of my baby. I haven't gotten my license yet as what I want to do is transfer my credits over - a lot will. Mostly what this school has given me is my confidence back - I was still shy and the kids were still the same - as they were just that - still kids while I was a lot older - these mostly single young parents all just wanted to party and have more kids - well the latter was mostly 'accidental' just like their first and second time. How they pulled off school and parenting - even just passing I don't know. School gave me confidence that my brain still functioned well - through out all the anatomy and physiology classes I kept my high GPA. It proved again, that I can take a course to its end. And that I'm addicted to school. With further schooling that I need and want, I can have a career - not just a job. Although I've had some pretty nice job...even 'counseling' type jobs, but none what I really want to do. And in some places like NM, all I can get is Cr*ppy jobs that pay next to nothing. Not even worth working - with high cost of daycare. Unless I want to be a polysomnographer but that is wayyyyy to much time away from my baby. I've already rambled far too much but I want to add, that I feel empathy for you for your Fibromyalgia - for what you go thru witht he disease itself and the attitude of others towards it. I get migraines - no real comparison at all, except its hard when you have to go to work and school or flunk out or not pay rent. And with a baby - and nursing with no medication its even harder - he's my most important job. Even if I hadn't gone to work and lost jobs - my family would never have let me be out on the streets - this is different I have to be THERE for my baby, PRRESENT. To keep him safe, to teach him simple early lessons in a fun way, to feed him, diaper him etc. Its hard with migraines up to three times a week - exhausting. I love that through out what you go through you are so supportive and encouraging to others - and I hope that if its in your fingers, that you, like my sister who has RSI has something like the DragonSpeak program so you don't have to type on the computer. If you do have it in your hands and still type then I value your answers even more. Oh - do you still perform marraige/handfasting ceremonies?

I ask the last as it would seem that it might be rewarding to perform those - even just once in awhile - on many levels.

Thanks so much, I knew I liked you for some reason.... LOL! We do have a lot of similarities don't we? I sure hope you continue your classes and get to do exactly what you want as far as a career goes. It is definitely rewarding when you can think of your job as something a lot more than a job. You're a great mother first and foremost and that's very admirable. One thing I never did. I do have that Dragon Naturally Speaking program but I haven't used it in a long time. Thank goodness most of my arthritis isn't in my hands but mostly in my hip and lower back. If you've seen our band video you'll notice I can't stand up straight any more. But darn it I can dance a little while I'm on stage! Good pain killers help! LOL. I can only stand up there for about 20 minutes so I only do about 5 songs per set but I do have a lot of fun with it. I could still do ceremonies, it would definitely be good for me ;) I went to your profile and saw your mySpace page, it's great! Love the beautiful background picture. I sent you a friend request over there too. Good conversation, I really enjoyed this. ((((Hugs))))

I don't know if mine is Intuition or conscience but it's that little voice inside that tells me when I'm about to do something really boneheaded :) I try to listen to it as much as possible. HAVE A GOOD DAY!! AT PEACE WITHIN

My conscience speaks to me too, my intuition is the one that tells me whether people should be trusted, or situations, whether I should take a job or stay home with the baby - that kind of thing.

I strongly believe in intuitions.Believe me I am very good at predicting things. I always practice who is at the door when the door bell rings, and who is the caller when the phone rings. Most of the time it is correct. At times my wife used to ask me 'please tell me what will happen? You seem to know something before hand'. I do online share trading. I made more money by choosing the stocks by intuition than following the tips of the others.I don't know. This is my personal experience.

That's great balasri - although I believe the word you're thinking of is precognition, although intuition is similiar, its more a quick insight an immediate and direct perception of truth, fact, etc., independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension of circumstances while precognition happens before the event. Great that you have such a skill!

Yes, you have the unique power to be able to predict things BEFORE they happen, rather then having your inner spirit make a quick assessment and know what's really going on - as things are going on.... :)

I entirely endorse your views that we must listen to our inner voice. I agree with you sometimes, it does happen that you come to know well in advance about a happening through your own intution. I have sometimes face the loss, while not listening to my intution. Right now, I just cannot recall any incidence. Good Post.

While I don't believe I actually stated an opiinion on the subject, I do thank you! I'm not sure about well in advance, but if a situation or person felt wrong, I very often ignored this, especially with people as I tended to want to think the best of others. Now I do but I excercise caution.

I usually do listen to my intuition or inner voice. I agree with you most of the time we can find our widesest advice in our hearts. Sometimes I don't listen to it, usually it happens with regards to buying things which I regret when I don't listen to mu intuition. :-)

I guess that advice must be based on experience! I definitely had a chuckle with this response!
