How often do you let the telephone disturb you?

Another bane of my life. The phone is undoubtedly a lifeline but sometimes it proves to be so disturbing that I feel like snapping it off. My daily schedule's choc-a-bloc and inevitably whenever I sit down to do something important the phone rings. I can understand if the caller has something important to say but sometimes, its just inane calls. I know these are all dear friends and relatives but honestly I have no time to indulge in mindless conversations. Some call up to give me advice or suggestions even when I don't ask for it, others to tell me of gossip or others to discuss their own problems. Sometimes, they talk so incessantly that I don't get a word in edgeways to be able to say that I'm busy and i have to hang up. How do I deal with such calls without being rude?

Phone might be a great creation but yes, it can be very disturbing at times when we are doing important work. Whenever i study or work on something and when the phone rings, i see who the caller is and if i feel like attending it, i will, otherwise leave it to ring to its full. So instead of trying to say that "i am busy" it is better to note down who have called and return their call later during the free time.

When I am working with all attention, this is the time I hate to be disturbed by any calls. I do hope that the other party will just send some text messages or if she has to talk to me, I hope that it is a short talk so that I can go back to my work.
