CDMA and GSm operation in India are fighting for the 1900MhZ band..In India, CDMA mobile phones function in the 800MHz band, while GSM mobile phones operate in 900MHZ and 1800MHz bands...Operators of both the services need a new band..CDMA operators do not want to be pushed into 1700MHz or 450MHz band...

there is no battle for 1900 band.but gsm operators are trying to prevent allocating this band to cdma carriers saying it would cause interference to them...gsm carriers fear competation... but the govt too is in their favour.govt gives cdma carriers only half the amount of spectrum that a gsm carrier gets, because cdma can support double the no of customers using the same spectrum.....technology discrimination.. tata indicom was not allowed to deploy EVDO, a 3G technology, saying 3G policy was not ready. we cud hav seen 3G in india a yr ago...3G is there in even the poorest countries in the world.
