Do you think Shrek 2 and 3 would have been as funny if the cat had been a dog?

I was just thinking about this the last time I saw Shrek 2 movie. And, I don't think Shrek would have been nearly as funny as it was if the cat had really been a dog. He's so sauve and mischeivious. No way a dog could pull off those lines.
What do you think? If you could replace the cat character with a dog, instead, would it be just as funny? Which animal would you replace him with?

I like the 1st and 2nd part much than the 3rd part..awaiting to watch the 4th. This is my favorite movie.

Hello there. I do not think anyone can replace Puss in the Boots. The adorable eyes, the boots, the sexy walks are just amazing. Only a cat can carry that out.
I personally prefer dog to cat in real life. But in the movie Shrek, Puss in the Boots is just amazing. He is the reason why I fell in love with Shrek 2. =D

I don't think you could replace Puss with any other animal, especially with the wonderful voice of Antonio Banderas adding to his charm

Well, I think a dog could have def. been given a great personality to make him just as funny and lovable as the cat,,,but I just can't imagine the Shrek movies without those big adorable cat eyes! lol.

No Way! That cat is so awesome and although I love dogs it just wouldn't work!
