Does anyone have any advice about Mirena? I am pregnant now, but I want to go ahead and start thinking about birth control now so that once I have the baby I will already have my mind made up. I would appreciate any advice....

I got the mirena IUD put in last month and so far I am not really all that impressed, I have had it in for 32 days and I have bled for probably 20 of them! If I could do something else for birth control I would but this is really my last option, I am hoping that it will get better for me!

I have the Mirena IUD as well. It's great. It's made my period cramps a million times less harsh, and it's great not having to remember to take a pill. I'm still paranoid and have to check it all the time though. Also, I just got it put in at the end of September so I'm not sure if it will put a stop to my periods, but here's hoping! lol.

I had the Mirena IUD for one year and loved it. I got it three months after my last DC was born, so we had to use other means of prevention before that. (My doctor wouldn't insert it earlier than 12 weeks post partum to make sure the incision was healed and it wouldn't move to another part of my body). I hardly had any periods if you could call them that all all. They were more like half a day of light spotting. I would talk to you doctor on your next visit as well, they can give you more information on the mirena and any other options that are available.

Several of my friends have it and they love it. I don't so I don't really have any advice for you except that I've heard that they like it.
