This is a shot of my Lavendar I planted early this year. It is now nearly 2 feet tall to the tips of the buds. It has gotten very bushy as well. After a rain it smells so good walking by. The blooms have finally appeared and should be open in a few days to a week I'd guess. I got this from my wifes boss as he had so much at his property. I wish to thank you all for taking the time to read and or respond as well. Have a great day/evening all. Take care! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Oh how I love lavendar! About 23 years ago I was given a very small cutting of lavendar, that actually came from a bush in Princess Anne's garden at Gatcombe Park. And - no it wasn't stolen - it was given to a frend of mine and she gave it to me! LOL! Anyway - you should see how enormous that bush is now, and I have several other bushes around the house that I have grown from cuttings from that original one! I love the colour and the scent. And if you have the time and patience, the crushed, dried flowers from the lavendar, can be made into wonderful little "lavendar bags" to bring a nice scent to drawers and wardrobes. Sorry I'm not around so often these days, but nice to see noe of your discussions again!

I don't think I have ever seen a lavendar plant. I bet the smell is really nice and the flowers are pretty. Thank you for sharing your photos with us. I always learn something new.

I sure as heck wish I had your green thumb GRANDPA BOB--I do live in an apartment, but I always try to grow things...I think my main problem is that I kill my plants with too much kindness, as in overwatering...bummer...well maybe one day I'll get it right...But fresh lavender must really smell fantastic! Now, if maybe attempt to grow myself sometime??

try it in a sunny window. Only water when the soil is dry to the touch. Rotate it from a sunny spot to shady every third day. I have one indoors that is growing this way and doing well. Yes the aroma is great to have around. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am so envious of you! I love lavendar and wish I had a nice sunny spot to grow it in. There are so many plants that require full sun that I would love to have. Lavendar tops the list.

Such a beautiful plant! I love lavender. There is a place about 4 miles from my home that grows lavender for commercial purposes. They sell it to places all over the world. I'm not sure how many acres their plants cover. But I do know that it's quite a bit. And when all the plants bloom, it smells absolutely heavenly as I drive by.

I love the smell of lavendar. It's my favourite colour too. my colleague had some from her parent's garden in australia and she brought a whole bunch to keep in the office. She let us crush some between our fingers and the smell really lingers. she said that she is unable to walk past wild growing lavendar without snapping off a few heads to crush and smell the strong aroma. :)
