My son plans on joining the navy when he graduates. I just don't know that at the age of 18 he will be mature enough. I really think that 18 is to young. What do you think is a good age?

I think 18 is good enough on decision making. But you still need to guide him on making decision. And if he really like to be in the navy i think you should support him. And ask him seriously on this matter and if you think he really want to then support him.

Hello there. I was 18 when I joined the Marines and now I'm 27. My parents thought the same thing but boot camp will mature you a lot. I am currently an instructor for Marines that come out of bootcamp and I have seen 17 year olds come through. A lot are mature and can handle it and some can't. It all depends on how you see your son. If you don't think that he is mature enough then I would try to wait until at least the age of 24. The military always needs good people and leaders. Good luck to you on your decision.

Well, it's hard to say. I wouldn't want my son going in the middle of a WAR period, but I as a mther also think 18 is to young. But once they turn 18, they can sign papers without us, so we have to let them grow up in this world that considers them grown at such a young age. All we can do is pray!!!
